THE DEFENSE DIET
America's 1941 Defense Diet does not mean curtailment; instead, it means a more abundant,
a more nutritious diet for building the health and the physical fitness of all our people.
The Good Diet will contain: From one to two servings daily of potatoes. One or more
servings of tomatoes or citrus fruits. One to three servings daily of leafy, green or yellow
vegetables. At least one or more servings daily of other fruits and other vegetables. For
fresh fruits and fresh vegetables are your best source of vitamins and minerals.
In America there is the best opportunity in the entire world for a good diet. Eat the right
food for a stronger, sturdier body as your first contribution to total defense.
