Never mind how the term
'•horsft sense" came into use.
Just practice it and you will need
no other kind.
Alive man never fears i dead
one And -the merchant who ad
vertises need never w >rry over
the one who "does not.
The man who has health, hap-
piness and a clear conscience is
twice as rich as the fellow with a
million and a bum stomach.
Last Monday the weather turn
ed off somewhat colder than
usual and the every lay coat was
a plasant frie i 1 for a while.
Mr and Mrs. J. R. Barnes
were iu from the north country
Monday morning for a short time
trading and attending to other
business mitters.
J. T Glasgow, living north of
town, has been pestered with an
over production of boils and car-
buncles which hive knpt him
pretty busy out home the past
two weeks, but we are pleased to
relate, that be has recuperated
suffioently to come to town again
and jolly around with the boys
aud he "broker through"
for the rirst lime Tuesday since
being greeted with this blessing
T. A Lemaster has been busy
this week erecting one of the
Jatelv improved metal grain bins
which he is advertising in an-
other column of this issue. Tom
thinks they are the hot stuff and
from all appearance there is no
question bnt the farmer who in-
vests iu one of thrm will save a
great deal of graiu from rats and
other causes generally brought
on through the use of the old
style. At the rear ol J. Howlett
& Co.'s store anyone cau see one
builded for inspection.
A system is finally adopted by
the County Commissioners
whereby Lipscomb county will
have better roads and it has been
handed to the Lime Light man
that within the next few weeks
both bridges across Wolf Creek
will be iu passable coudition as
efforts are being made to get
these two ueccessary features in
connection with better road con-
struction completed To better
the roads and get the bridges
erected has been a couple of pro-
blems that have bothered the
minds of the commissioners all
summer. Through the scarcity
of laboring people the lumber
aud material has been forced to
lay piled up at Higgius, while
again the road proposition which
was so juaici usly worked earlier
in the spring m^t with its fault
and was tabled for good reasons.
But another proposition will be
spiuug within the next thirty to
-ixty days which will overcome
the drawbacks and diacotnodiiig
features of the o h r road pro
sitions and with the coopeiation
of the good people of Lipscomb
county she will have th> best
roads of any of the a tjoini.n
couuties—its no joke this time,
the 8tuff will be up for the peo-
ples' consideration—the right and
truesysteia-for good roai build-
ing will be "on tap" before many
weeks roll round.
