37 pounds
For some time now, Mr.
and Mrs. Charlie Powell
have been seeing big fish
dart through the water at
their pond at Dalton.
They learned what .they
had last week.
A net in the pond caught
two buffalo — one weighing
IWi pounds and the other
16 pounds.
They're still not convinc-
that they were the big-
gest in the pond. They're
leaving the net there and
expecting something bigger.

County has only
woman veterinarian
Morris county now has the only woman
veterinarian doing general practice in Texas.
She is Dr. Katharine Morrison, who has
opened an office in DaingerfieM and will prac-
tice throughout .this area. She is the only li-
censed woman veterinarian in Northeast Texas.
Dr. Morrison, 23, is a 1959 graduate of
Oklahoma State University, where she was a
member of the Women's Veterinary Medical
Association, Women's American Veterinary As-
sociation, Alpha Pi Mu, an honorary pre-med
fraternity, and the Orange Quill and Orange
and Black Quill, honorary scholastic societies.
Her parents, Dr. and Mrs. David G. Mor-
rison, are long time residents of Gladewater.
While she was a student at Gladewater
high school, Dr. Morrison showed Jersey cattle
in the Junior 4-H Club division at the Glade-
water dairy show.
Her interest in becoming a veterinarian
started as she groomed, fed and showed her
dairy cattle at Gladewater and other shows in
Northeast Texas.
