Dear Fr-iend
Yours of some few days ago to hand and glad to hear from you.

Well we have had some of they col dis weather I ever saw and
they most of old settlers say they never saw such Spell nor they
Kin never did.
Well I looked for you Chr i stmass tho you did not come and I
never w i 1 l go to they trouble I did to fix up again for such
trash. Why did you not come. was your hors not able or was you
ashamed of Jones, tho I guess that you both had to walk and of
cor s they roads was bad and continue so I am sorter mad. Pa
heard me say you and Tom Jones was coming. he sais wonder if he
is as Durned a fool as Charlie. I told him I guessed he was
sorrey than you or he wont go in a strange place wi th such a
fellow. "Id better go and Kil a hog" and so off he went and
shot a 2 year old Boar wi I d as a deer. said he would tel 1 them
he never amed to eat It, had to Kill It to Keep it from cutting
they dogs and thought we Just eat some of It for fresh eating and
he did not think you could stand it long. I told him It had bin
so long since you had enney meat you would not no a boar from a
sow at meal time.
Sat terday morn Daniel saddled Peat a mule and Li t out for
Troupe and got a quart of alcohol ,. this was on 24 of Dec. and
we sti 1ll Looked on 25th. we all got up, if we had not we would of
bin in or on they bead al 1 day, and brought in Eggs and alcohol
and went to beat t i ng them up. yet we Looked for you and that
Jones, noing you never miss a good thing when you no i t. done
beat t i ng. I takes a glass or rather a cup, we have not got no
tumblers. I drank one emt i e and a little more. now if you no
what a Li t t 1 e more i s that i s what I drank then. Pa and Daniel
was going to a nother Egg nog and dinner. I could not go. I
fel t two ful up a bove my sholder-. my coat got two ti te in the
shol ders. I lay down and they started of. I felt like doing
something for you, noing that Bore meat was all , I thought I
would Kill birds to make a pie so I got up sorter picked up they
gun and lit out or stumbled out in the bottom, me and Bob. I got
fore f i el d Larks and two y'e 1 ow hamers and made a p i e Monday.
this was Sunday. I would not of went and done it had it not bin
for you and Jones. I 1 ove to hunt tho, and we had a n i ce p i e.
you bet it lasted sevrel 1 days.-5 -
