Miss Patricia Minton of Naples will
compete for state honors in a 4-H Club
dress revue at the State Fair in Dallas
from Thursday through Saturday of this
week.
She won first place and the right to
compete in the state contest at the district
4-H Club revue held at Gilmer in August.
She competed there with 13 entries
from 19 counties in the district.
Miss Minton's trip to the State Fair
this week is sponsored by the Naples
Chamber of Commerce. Her mother, Mrs.
Robert L. Minton, will accompany her to
the state contest.
The state contest will have about 60
girls competing. They all are winners of
contests in the 12 districts of the state.
Miss Minton will model the dress she
is wearing in the picture at the right.
She will be judged on the becoming-
ness of her outfit, her poise, construction
of the garment, and Jier 4-H record.
State Fair visitors on Saturday, Oct.
7 may attend one of the public dress re-
vues. The first will be held at 10 a.m. and
another at 2 p.m. Both will be in the
Woman's Building of the State Fair.
Miss Minton is a 15 year old sopho-
more student in Paul Pewitt high school.
She has been a member of the 4-H
Club for four years and is now a member
of the Morris County Senior 4-H Club.
For the past three years, she has won
the county dress revue, and also has com-
peted in electrical contests.
At Pewitt high school, she is a mem-
ber of the concert, marching and stage
bands, takes an active part in the Nation-
al Thespian Society, and is a member of
the Future Homemakers, Youth Choir and
First Baptist Church.
The Pewitt PTA's member-
bership drive will end next
Wednesday, Oct. 11.
All classes are competing
for the most members to win
a cash award. Students were
given membership envelopes
this week to take home.
Half of the money from
each 50 cent membership will
remain in the local fund and
the other half will go to the
state and national PTA head-
quarters, Mrs. J. D. Cobb,
chairman, said.
