Member of Congress from Texas
Two things were done In the
closing days of the recent session
of Congress that are ot special In-
terest to our section of the coun-
try.
Parity Payments
ProVision was made for parity
payments on . the major farm
commodities. It is estimated that
these payments will amount to
about 10 cerots per bushel on
wheat and 2 cents per pound on
cotton. These payments will be
in addition to the regular soil
conservation payments that have
heretofore been provided for. I
feel that we were particularly
fortunate in being able to win
this light.
Interest Rates
The President vetoed the bill
which provided for a continuance
of the 3>/2 percent land bank in-
terest rates. The Congress passed
the legislation over his veto. It
thus becomes a law, notwith-
standing the action of the Presi-
dent in vetoing it.
It was my privilege to make
file motion and lead the light
by which the measure was passed
over the vato of the President. I
felt and still feel" that these low
interest 'rates , should be con-
tinued.
These are the lowest farm in-
terest rates that have ever pre-
vailed in this country, and they
can mean much to the entire
Southwest.
METHODIST CHURCH
M. O. Childress. Pastor.
We know bhat every one Is busy
trying to save his wheat. We
want to save the wheat, buit too,
we want to keep the church go-
ing. So with the women and
children we are holding on until
the harvest is over-then-??
Next Sunday morning we shall
have a sermon from an object
lesson and chalk talk. I am sure
we shall have something inter-
esting as well as a good lesson of
life. Tell your friends and, be
with us, if possible.
The evening service should be
just as interesting. Our subject
will be, "The Limit Span of Life."
Last Sunday evening we had good
attendance. So I feel that we are
moving right along.
Always a hearty welcome to
you to worship with us.

To Carry His Cam-
paign to Eastern Sec.
Perry ton, Tex., June 30—Rep-
resentative Max W. Boyer said
today he would carry his cam-
paign to the eastern section of
the 124th legislative district soon.
Boyer, who is a member of the
important Highways and Motor
Traffic Committee of the House,
is running for re-election for his
second term.
The Ochiltree County legislator
announced he would make the
swing into the eastern counties
to discuss his program for agri-
culture and highway improve-
ments in this section.
"I favor a progressive farm pro-
gram thait would aid in the fight
against soil erosion and a pro-
gram to make the highway sys-
tem in Texas second to none," he
said.
Boyer is the author of the Dall-
am-Hartley Counties land bill
which allowed over 50,000 acres of
land in the two counties to be re-
appraised and to be repurchased
by the original owners.
He also is a member of the
privileges, suffrage and elections
eommititee, the insurance com-
mittee, the insurance committee,
