We had continental

a fashion show.
Friday night a public
program with five gospel
choirs from different
churches.
We are looking forward
for the regional
workshop next year in
Ft. Worth.

Jodie received two

from BCOIC. He also
received a meter in the
drum solo for this year
and received another
award for his academic
achievement.
Jodie left on June 10
< for Prairie View A and M
University for eight
weeks.
He is the son of Joyce
E. Buffin McGarity and
. the grandson of the late
Mrs. Geneva W. Buffin
Rector and the grandson
of Mr. Frank Buffin.
He is also the godson of
Mr. and Mrs. Oscar R.
Williams and the godson
of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald
Waiters. He attended
Wheatley Middle School,
where he was on the
honor roll.

The Alamo Branch
YMCA will dedicate its
fitness and exercise
room in memory of Mr.
Willie "Bud" Goins, a
native San Antonian who
lived in . Brooklyn, New
York for more than 30
years until he retired
and returned home.
Goins was a strong
supporter of the Alamo
Branch YMCA. He was
on the Board of The
Early Learning Child
Development Center.
Willie was a graduate of
Huston Tillotaon College
and received his
Master's Degree in
Sociology from Adelphi
University, Long Island,
N. Y.
He was a faithful
member of St. Paul's
United Methodist Church
of this city and a
member of Omega Psi
Phi Fraternity, Inc. and
a member of the
Greater San Antonio
Chapter of Huston
Tillotson College Alumni
Assn. He was appointed
by the governor of New
York to serve on the
Selective Service Board
and he was involved with
numerous organizations
with dedicated service.
The memorial
dedication ceremony #
will be Sunday, July 15
at 3 p.m. at the YMCA.
Everyone is welcome.
