1,181 VISIT FORT #
GRIFFIN STATE]
PARK IN JUNE '
During June 1,1X1 people visit"
ed Fort Griffin State I'ark, ac-
cording to Tid Childers, keeper of
the .park properties. This report
is not complete, as Mr. Childers
was unable to be at the park all
the time.
There were 350 cars from Texas
driven in the park, and 47 from
out-of-state.
W. G. Webb, local manager ol
the park, reports that the 70 foot
well is furnishing plenty of purt
water in the picnic area. Tha
water has been tested and found to
be pure. He expects that a 5®
barrel cistern will be received sooa
and erected, which will make suf-
ficient water available for all pur-
poses.
The two stock gaps are now
open from the highway to the pic-
nic area, which saves the trouble
of opening gates or gaps.
Mr. Webb reports that a flag
pole has been erected on Inspira-
tion Point "and the most beauti-
ful flag ever possessed by any na-
tion will fly .from there daily." He
urges local people to drive out and
-ee the flag, and to hold picnics at
the park, which is on the banks of
the Clear Fork of the Brazos.
