Methodists Pay
Church Debt
The Fir.-t Methodist church o!
Albany i.s celebrating this week
the fact that their new church is
debt free. The money needed has
been raised, or pledged, and the
church will meet at the .fellowship
hall Tuesday evening of next
week for a covered di-li supper to
celebrate the raising of the debt.
All members, or other- interested,
are urged to be present. Supper
is to be served at 7 :00 p. m.
The building of a new inetho-
dist church was in the minds of
the church membership during the
war, and in 1! 47 plans were com-
pleted for the new edifice while
Rev. J. I!. Thompson was pastor.
The old building wa w recked and
materials salvaged, and in I'.MK
work started on the building. It
was completed early this year.
At a stewards' meeting a week
ago, the group decided to try to
liquidate a $!t,000 debt, all that
remained on the $(10,000 church.

Chapter Elects
The local Red Cross chapter

acting upon recommendation from
the American Red Cross that all
officers who have served for two

IN CAR ACCIDENT
Mi.-. Will Hatcher wa slightly
injured last Sunday afternoon late
when the Hatcher automobile,
driven by Mr. Hatcher, was run
into from behind by a speeding
car. Mrs. Hatcher suffered
an injured neck and bruises. Mr.
Hittcher was not injured.
The speeding car had been fol-
lowed from Anson to Albany by
highway patrolmen, who were un-
able to overtake him until he hit
the Hatcher car about two miles
east of Albany on the Hreckenrldge
highway. The driver was fined in
the local justice court for speeding
and driving too close to another
car.
Mrs. Hatcher was treated at
llreekenridge for tier injuries.
BABY DAUGHTER
Mr. and Mrs. K. C. Hoykin of
(irand I'rairie are the parents of a
baby daughter, Patricia Joe, born
at a hosptal there Friday, Sept.
HO, at 12:1 a p. m. The little miss
weighed six pounds. She has a

Indians on the Indian home (rid

The Albany backs were plagued
with fumbles all night, and two of
the Indian scores were set up bjf

Haskell and Albany are con-
ceded to have the two strongeit
elevens in East C-A, and the win-
tier will have to beat the Indians.
Albany rests this week, although
the Albany 1) will play the Abilene
I! here Friday afternoon at 4:00.

plenty of action.

on the Stamford Hulldogs.

Albany received to start th#
game against Haskell, and Quar-
terback Ronny Macon had to drop
back to take Lusk's long kick with
the wind. He faked a handoff on
the 10 and then went all the wajr
to seote, never being touched. He
was cleared past the 30 yard line
by two good blocks. Clovis Riley
kicked the point.
Haskell's Dodson took the kick
on his 2(1 and carried it out to the
•'17, stopped by Spurgln. Lusk
lost 5 when Viertel got through,
and Flanary got 1 and Luck failed
to gain. Lusk kicked 55 yards.
Tucker brought the kick out to
his 2!>. Clovis Riley went orer
right end for 35 yards and 1st
down. 'Tucker lost a yard and Ril-
ey mad. one and Macon kicked 20
yards, Viertel stopping Davis on
his 2*.
Davis made 3, thon failed to
gain. Clovis Riley went through
rtie line to drop Lusk for 9 yards
loss, and then Lusk kicked 52
yards.
