vin Payne, in Cisco this week.
FIRST CHRISTIAN CHURCH
The First Christian church will
ha e a candlelight communion
service at H o'clock April 15, Good
Friday, and Easter service.^ Sun-
day morning. Afternoon com-
munion will he .served in the
homes of the shut-ins of the com-
munity. You are cordially invited
to attend these services.
Last Rites for Pvt.
Kenneth Thames
Funeral services for Pvt. Ken-
neth F. Thames were held Friday
at 3 p. in. in the Moran Baptist
church with the Rev. W. H. Hell
officiating. Burial will be in the
Dothan cemetery.
Wylie Funeral Home of Moran
met the remains and brought them
to Moran where they lay in state
in the funeral parlor midst a beau
tiful floral offering. Friends and
citizens called and registered, and
were greeted by the escort, Cpl.
Robert Kay Palmer.
Military rites were under direc-
tion of the Ernest F. Pettit Post of
| the American Legion of Moran.
{Chaplain Richard Crewg of Cisco
was in charge of the rites.
Horn in Eastland county near
Cisco August 12, 1!(21, Pvt.
Thame* was sent overseas to Ire-
land in October, 1!M!I. He wa- a
member of the Moran Baptist
church.
Private Thame- took part in the
D-day landings in France and was
killed at Saint Lo, France, July
27, 11)44.
Pallbearers were Jack Hikes of
Levelland, .). I!. Thames of Plain
view, Clifford Thames of Fort
Worth, Doyle Thames of Dallas,
R. H. Thames of Levelland, L. J.
N'elm.s of Cisco, Eleri Nelms of
Cisco, and Glen Thames of Odessa.
Surviving are the parents; two
sisters, Mrs. Melvin Payne of Ci.-
co and Krma Joyce Thames of
Moran; three brother-, Karl

Moran.

MERCHANTS' NIGHT AT
CAPITAL THEATRE
The management of the Capital
theatre of Moran announces in this
issue that through the coopera-
tion of the merchants and business
houses of the city he will have a
merchants' surprise gift night each
Tuesday night at the theatre All
gifts will be separately wrapped,
and no one will know what his
gift will be until he or she is de-
clared the winner. All gift* will
be unwrrapped from the stage of
the theatre at !l o'clock, and will
be useful, such as aluminum cof-
fee makers, groceries, drugs, gaso-
line, oils, car wash and grease,
cleaning and pressing, barber
work, and many other items that
will he useful.
There will be no advance in ad-
missions. The gifts are being fur-
nished by the merchants of Mo-
ran.
The management announce iie
is starting .summer bargain
night on Friday and Saturday,
April T1 li.'i, when admission will
he 25 and !' cents.

Jones. Mrs. Cady will visit Mrs.
Jones while they are away.
Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Freeman
left Monday to spend the Faster
holidays in Amerieus, Ga., with
their daughter, Mrs. M. M. Ricks,
and family. They expect to be
away several weeks.

ATTEND AREA "5" MEETING
Mine . H. A. Elliott, C. C. Cady
and Carl Lunnnus were in Stain-
ford Monday, April t, to attend
the South "5" area meeting of the
Christian churchc- in the area.
Mmes. Elliott and Lummus were
on the program. Mrs. Elliott
sang "Have' Thine Own Way,
Lord" during the commitment and
benediction service while Mrs.
Lunnnus conducted a 45 minute
discussion in the devotional de-
partment group. Mrs. ( ady was
a visitor.
Mr . R. L. Karr and little Laura
Lynn Davis from Lubbock are
spending the week in the home of
Mr. and Mrs. V. E. Davis, manag-
er of the Capital Theatre. Mrs.
Karr is the daughter *nd Laura
Lynn, who is only two years old,
is the granddaughter of the
Da vises.
Mrs Irene Wright of Lamesa
visited her sister, Mrs. Clarence
Gay, from Sunday till I uesday,
returning home I lie-day evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Floyd C. Pool and
Mrs. John Pritchard were in Fort
Worth Wednesday.
W. P. Kerw ood, president of St.
Mary- Oil & Gas Co., arrived in
Moran for a two weeks' inspection
trip. He and Mr, Locke left for
the Valley Thursday.
James T. Mathews, scoutmaster
of the Moran Hoy Scout troop, re

at the meeting Monday evening
