l!ix," was the story of a gangster

have a football team. He got one,
hut what kind. There have never
been assembled on a gridiron such
a combination of hilarious peci-
mens of collegi athlete s. The prac-
ticing of their particular major in
athletics on the football field,

tionally humorous.

Although the Lone Star state
had only one "lone star" high
prize winner in the recent Inter
national Canning Contest, there
were many other winner* of cash
and merchandise prizes for the
glass jars of food sent to the con-
test last fall.

wonderful color and excellent fla-

four and fiv. the enrollment is 205
compared with 1 !>1. while the pri-
mary department, grades one and
two, has 173 compared with 1S1
same period last school year. The

One other high winner, although
not an individual, but a group, was
the home economics class of the
Olney High School, at Olney, for a
collection of a dozen jars of foods.
This group had keen competition
this year, because many more than
usu.V were in the high school ex-
hibit.
There were thirty-six Texas
winners altogether, from all over
the state, winners in each of the
classes, such as fruit, vegetable,
etc. These women won cash or
merchandise prizes, and the fact
that they were among the 2500
winners out of the 100,000 jars
same , ntored in the contest surely
means that they were all excellent
canners. It i a great achievement
