Attend District Meet
The district young people's
meeting was held at the First Map
tist church, lireckenridge, Tuesday
night. A hundred young people
took part in this meeting with Al-
bany having the largest crowd
from any church.

eon of the liluebonnet Study club
wa- held Wednesday in the Kduca-
tional building of the Matthews
Memorial I'r.-sbyterian church.

The centerpiece of the I'-shap-
ed table were real flower plaques
made in the likeness of the Texas
flag. A large bowl of purple ir's
decorated the -mall table in the
center of the I
Mr Cilmore Smith gave the in
vocation after which the a-sembly
united in -inging "The Kye* of
Texa Are I'pori You," led by Hat-
lie Vick Kaster and accompanied
hj Mi Frank Klliott at the piano.
The thre. course luncheon wa
prepared and nerved by Sallie Mat-
thews Missionary *ociety of the
I're.-byterian church.
The desert course of ice cream
and cup cakes simulated a basket,
on the handle of which was a tiny
flower. Favors were corsages of
pan.-ies and iris.
Miss Kaster introduced Mrs.
John Ward, soloist and Lillian
Morrison, pianist and accompanist.
Mrs. Ward's numbers included
"The Day'.- Hegun" (Clara Kd-
wards), "My Lover Is a Fisher-
man" (Lily Strickland) and "I
Heard You Go By" (Daniel
W ood).
Mrs. Daw-on presented the guest
speaker, Miss RatlifT, who gave a
splendid interpretation of the prize
winning novel, "The Family" by-
Nina Federova. The story, writ-
ten by a white refugee, center-
around a family of Rus-ian refu-
gees who are running a boardim,
house in China. Five member of
the family, the grandmother, the
mother, the daughter, and two
nephew , are the central char-
acter of th. novel. Other char
acters who enter into the book am
those who room in the homt «f
this family.
