CHANGE CHRISTMAS DAY NEXT??
Now that President Roosevelt is ^oing to move Thanksgiving l'ay
up a week this year to feel the pulse of the Kent-nil public as to the
breaking of more traditions, there will likely come sufficient objections
to it that he will be shocked at the pounding of sentiment against such
silly doings. For some tlnu* now, no one lias known how to plan his
crop, business, or even his spare time without first having to consult
some government agency.
The advance of Thanksgiving a week will go down in history as
some of the other worthless New Deal fancies. Why not advance the
first day of January so that the new year will begin the day following
Christmas? There are lots of things that one might think of that would
not sound quite so silly as changing a national holiday and upsetting
plans and contracts that have been made for more than a year.
