Evelyn Jane Scholl Is Married Here;
Couple Spend Honeymoon In Galveston
Miss Evelyn Jane Scholl, daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Jules Meyer of
2928 Carneg-ie, became the bride of
Lou Welsch, Jr., in a candlelight
ceremony, solemnized recently at
the home of the bride's parents.
Rabbi Robert Kahn officiated
and Mrs. D. J. Matranga, harpist,
rendered the wedding music.
Miss Sophie Welsch, sister of the
groom, was maid of honor and Mrs.
Ben Lipnick of Galveston was
matron of honor. Little Anita Kai-
ser was flower girl.
Lou Welsch, Sr., of New Orleans
attended his son as best man.
The bride, given in marriage by
her father and uncle, Jonas Levy,
wore a Brussels lace wedding gown
which is an heirloom in the family
and is over 40 years old. She wore
a headdress of net and seed pearls
with a chapel length veil. The bride
carried a white Bible, overlaid with
white orchids and stephanotis. A
strand of pearls was her only orna-
ment.
A reception was held following
the ceremony at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Newton C. Brown of 2932
Carnegie.
The double ring wedding cake
formed the central interest of the
bride's table. The bride's bouquet,
set on a reflector, furnished the
floral arrangement.
Mrs. Nathan Segal presided over
the punch service and Mrs. Brown
registered the guests in the bride's
book.
The couple left for a wedding
trip to Galveston, after which they
will make their home in New
Orleans.

Must Get Permits
Before Building
Provisions of the official build-
ing code of the City of West Uni-
versity Place provide that "no wall,
structure, building or part thereof,
shall be built, enlarged, or altered,
until a plan of the proposed work,
together with a statement of the
materials to be used, shall have
been submitted in duplicate to the
building inspector."
James L. Williams, city secre-
tary-engineer, stated early this
week that a considerable number
of buildings and improvements are
started prior to making applica-
tions for building permits. For the
protection of the property owner,
building contractor and the City of
West University Place, this prac-
tice should be discontinued, he said.
