keep those dues coming, and we
want you all to know we need
YOU. Non-payment of dues
creates a great big financial bur-
den on our organization.
Edna Bryant has been married
to Charles W. Bryant for 40 years.
Hope you have many more enjoy-
able ones!
A note from Clifford F. Will-
iams, 200-8th Street, Upland, Pa

Sun Oil Co. in July, after working
32 years and am planning to retire

As I sit thinking about another
column for the HCN, my stomach
is still complaining about all I ate
for Thanksgiving, just past; the
Christmas Season has started but
will be over before you read this;
and so I find I must try to be
serious as a New Year opens with
golden opportunities to renew the
Resolutions I couldn't keep last
year, and the year before . . . and
the year before, etc. Four or more
years ago, however, I did quit
smoking, absolutely cold turkey,
and have never snitched one or
had a sorry minute. So, occasion-
ally, old dogs do learn to give up
bad habits.
I have had several telephone
calls since the last issue with
news from Mike Hayostak telling
of a trip to Indianapolis and visit
with John Laux who is now able
to be working again after an
accident a few years ago. That is
always good to hear of a fellow
Hellcat's recovery from accident
or illness. Mike also said that
George Moss had stopped and
visited with him while on his way
to Iowa City; and that he was
picking his corn, and I hope he has
"Salted" away a little cash for
Nashville.
Another call from fellow Hellcat
Van Slyke, B Co. 82nd Medics,
who had run into one of our lost
sheep and informed him of the
Association, and called to give me
his address. I mailed him one of
the past issues of the HCN and
invited him to join up. Van Slyke
said he hadn't seen him in 20
years but immediately recognized
GUY ARCARIS of B Co. of the
134th Ordnance Bn. Any of you in
his area of 19000 Loomis Ave.,
Home wood, IL. 60430, give Guy a
call and help him feel wanted and
remind him to send our Exec. Sec.
his dues. We need him in the
Association.
The last call was from Joyce
Benton, the daughter of Hellcat
Marvin L. Irvin, A Co. She had
just returned from celebrating
Thanksgiving with her father and
mother in Albuquerque, New
Mexico, 7618 Edith Blvd. N. E.
She lives in So. Roxanna, IL and
has given Marvin 3 grandchildren,
and her daughter will make him a
great-grandfather come next
April. Marvin's son James Ira also
lives in Albuquerque and has 4
children. She told how interested
she and her brother have always
been in their Dad's experiences
during W. W. II and that Marvin
saves the HCN for her each year
so that she can keep up to date on
the Association. She related that
her Dad was called "Moon" during
those years and drove a wrecker
on which he had mounted a
towboat whistle that could be
heard for over a mile away. His
wrecker was named "Illinois Kid".
Marvin has kept in touch with
Sturman, Pinno and Ferris over
the years, but would love to hear
from some of you fellows who
remember him. Hey, Marvin,
when that great-grandchild
arrives, you drop me a note and
tell me what it is and all about it.
OK?
Speaking of L. H. (Joe) Ferris,
makes me think that when I
posted his dues payment, my wife
commented about the fact that he
lives in Muleshoe, TX. Now you
must admit that is not a common
name, and she had just read that
the actor who plays the lead in
the new TV show, Matt Houston,
comes from Muleshoe, Texas.
Now how about that?
Dues were received from the
following, but not one word to
pass along to their buddies: Jo-
seph Zagorac, Hq; D. B. Post, Hq;
William Giannopoulos, C; Edwin
N. Long, Hq; George Pfaffenber-
ger, A; Joseph J. Lachcik, B;
Kenneth P.* Boner, Hq; Clarence
R. Buckley, C; Lewis L. Cart-
mell, A; Charles J. Kelly, A;
Edward T. Mrozek, A; Paul Sev-
erino, B; Donald A. Tiffany, B;
Winston 0. Freeh, C; Jess W.
Zook, A; Harvey Cornelison, B; F.
W. Kennedy, B; W. A. Dauben-
speck, A; H. T. Barnard, Hq;
Charles D. Walls, B; and Irving J.
Bailey, C.
I received one sad note from
Harold H. Smith, 494th FA, Hq.
giving information on the passing
of our comrade of the 134th,
Norman Garrou. I sent a letter of
sympathy from the 134th mem-
bers and those of you who might
wish to do the same will find all
necessary info in the December
HCN. My thanks to Harold Smith.
A few of you have sent pic-
tures, and our Executive Sec.
advises that there is still a
backlog of pictures due to the
reunion, but they will keep work-
ing on getting some into each and
every issue of the HCN.
I would also remind you that
Booster memberships are avail-
able for anyone you know, or any
of you needing a helping hand due
to poor health, a financial bind, or
other problems making it difficult
to come up with the payment.
Unfortunately, many of our mem-
bers who have had dues paid by
Booster payments, may be drop-
ed unless we receive some re-
sponse from them indicating they
are interested in the Association
and still unable to pay their own
dues. Letters have already gone
out, or soon will, to those individ-
uals. It is not our intent to
embarrass anyone and all those
who are able to pay a little extra
to make these Booster member-
ships available are happy to pro-
vide in this way, but it is not the
purpose of Booster memberships
to pay dues for those few who
simply haven't enough interest in
the Association to pay dues to
even though they may be able to
do so. Boosters are to pay dues to
keep in the fold our buddies who
have a compelling interest in the
organization, but who, for some
reason or other, have had a little
problem paying dues. So, hey,
hold your head up high and just
drop the Executive Secretary a
little note, and say "I need a
Boost" and it makes someone
somewhere happy, feeling he did
a fellow Hellcat a nice thing. If
you've just been a little lax about
paying your dues, or really didn't
understand the Booster bit, drop
them in the mail, because I simply
will never believe that a Hellcat
was not interested in his Associa-
tion and proud to be a member. If
you know someone needing a
"Boost", let the Executive Secre-
tary know, or drop me a line and
I'll pass the word along. No one
but a few ever know, 'cause we all
read the same in the HCN, and
life deals a little harshly with all
of us from time to time.
Along with their dues, received
notes as follows: Clarence J.
Killian, Hq; "This may be the last
one. I've been in the hospital 3
times. High Blood Pressure, Arth-
ritis, Parkinson's Disease and a
light stroke with heart problems.
