for us.
I have the task of informing B -
Co., that they lost a good buddy.
Donald F. "Dude" Wensling, B.,
who died October 8, 1982, at
Green Bay, WI. We all extend our
deepest sympathy to his widow,
Beverly, and their two daughters,
in their loss of Dude, their hus-
band, father, and our buddy.
Word was sent us by Elmer A.
Reimer, Troop E, of the 92nd,
who attended the services. Elmer
stated that there were two other
Hellcats present, but he never
learned their names. Don and Bev
are friends of Edna and I, having
been with the Association group
flying to Hawaii, and returning to
San Francisco, for the Association
Reunion there in 1973 at the Jack
Tar Hotel. We shall all miss Dude,
as our ranks get thinner. Dude
loved to drive his big rig, and
missed driving in only a few
states. May Bev remember the
good memories to help her over
this great loss.
John and Wannaleen Preitauer,
B., sent a short note, but quite a
memorable note. This great cou-
ple just celebrated their 40th
Wedding Anniversary, along with
their daughter, Connie, a former
Miss Hellcat, who along with her
husband, Charles, and two child-
ren, Carma, and Corban, came up
from Ogden, Utah, plus many
guests, to help make it a great
Polish party. Our best wishes to
this couple, and may they do this
same thing for that many more
years.
Raoul and Grace Lheureux, B.,
send us a thank you note, and that
they enjoy reading of their
friends, and to keep up writing
the same. They send best wishes
to all for the New Year.
Stanley Kosinski, C., writes
that he would like the Hellcat
News to contain all the Officer's
pictures. One issue the Executive
Board, and the next the Unit
Reps, so we can recognize them at
our reunions. Norb says he will
pass along the idea.
Howard and Josephine Gillard,
C., write that he has been elected
Quartermaster for the Spruce,
Michigan, V. F. W. Post H 6754,
and Josephine is Jr. Vice for the
Auxiliary. They say they are
planning on being in Nashville.
Nicholas J. Marro, C., claims
the association has him listed in
the 56th. The printer made a lot
of mistakes, but my files have him
listed in C - 17th, and I made my
files three years ago. Nicholas has
several pictures of his ole buddies
to forward in, for all to see.
(Corrected to 17th, prior to Dec.
HCN mailing - ED).
LeRoy and Josephine Meyers,
A., tell us that they are consider-
ing moving, now that he has
retired, and will send us their new
address as soon as they find out
where they intend to settle. This
is a big step, and when you take
up roots and try to transplant
them in a new area, it isn't that
easy to adapt.
Edna and I just returned from a
short vacation into Florida, while
taking my sister and brother-in-
law down to their son's, to stay
till after the holidays. We visited
Fred Bixby, who then took us out
around the town. Edna doesn't
think much of the outside ele-
vators, nor the rotating lounges.
She likes to stay near the ground
floor. Next we, and Fred, went to
see our company C. 0., Carl and
Patrica Helton, at Orlando, and
since we had called ahead, Patrica
had a wonderful lunch awaiting
us. We stayed several hours at
their new home, and the conversa-
tion was in the memories of
yesterday. We were made most
welcome in their home, and it is
now our hopes that they will be
with all of us in Nashville. We left
Fred at our Holiday Inn, and
thanks Fred, for a wonderful
time. Its our turn next time.
Edna and I stopped at Dade
City, to see Chuck and Agnes
Mastro, but lucked out there, as
they had left the area before our
arrival. Better luck next time.
Almost forgot a phone call from
Amarillo, TX., where Jack and
Margaret Walker, A., were visit-
ing Joe and Julia Barber, A., and
had decided to give us a call. I
believe we can expect this couple,
Joe and Julia Barber, to be at
Jan. 1983

Nashville. What a wonderful
group we are going to have, and
quite a few first timers again.
Anyway, we thank Joe for footing
the phone bill, as it wasn't just
Jack, Joe, and Me, but the women
got in a few hundred words also.
Jack said they were on their way
to California, now we can look for
some interesting news when he
gets back. If anyway possible,
we'll have a 17th C. P. at
Nashville.
Before I finished this, my mail
arrived, which had accumulated
while we were gone for ten days,
and I got several more letters to
add to this months' column, plus
several dues letters, and we now
have more BOOSTER money.
We have another new member,
Robert A. Stanton, A, R. R. 3,
Box 128, Woodstown, NJ 08098. I
sure hope I get a letter from Bob
soon, as I sure hate myself when
here is another member from my
company, and I can't place him.
Sure sign of getting old. Maybe
till I get an answer from Bob, one
of you A - Co. men will tell me
what squad he was in. If you
remember him, write, and wel-
come him back home, as I know
all the rest of the company joins
me here in a big "Welcome Back
Bob". We thank Julius E. Bern-
stein, Div. Hq., for locating him
for us, and getting him started
back with his ole group and
buddies.
Clayton and Bertha Campbell,
A., tell us how much they enjoyed
St. Louis, and he met ole buddies
that he hadn't seen since 1945. He
tells us he will go to Toledo, and if
possible, Nashville. He also talked
to Norman Davies, A., and be-
lieve he will soon rejoin us again.
Norm and Chris have missed
several reunions, and the last
time I gaw them was Louisville.
John and Helen Shibley, C.,
enjoyed their first reunion at the
17th C. P., in St. Louis, and intend
to see us in Toledo, at the
Mid-West, and are planning to be
back to Nashville, with some more
buddies they can get started back
together again. How about writ-
ing one another and join the
Shibleys at Nashville. John just
got back from a vacation, and one
of his rolls of film was blank. He
still sent us a picture of Robert
Crawford, C., where he and Helen
visited the Crawfords in Kansas
City, for two days, living the
memories of yesterday, when we
were young, had hair, our own
teeth, and were slim. Now I'm not
saying we are getting old, but
don't put a picture of yourself
from yesterday, on the mirror. I
have to write John, as I don't
have Crawfords' address in my
files.
Ernest and Vernetta Wallander,
A., are looking forward to Nash-
ville, and to meeting new mem-
bers that he hasn't seen since
1945. They liked the setup at St.
Louis, and hope we have some-
thing similar in Nashville. He was
quite shocked to learn of 1st Sgt.
Jesse Rhine's death, and like
others, never got to meet him
since he was captured at Herr-
lisheim. He speaks of his visit
with Carl Lyons, A., in Columbus,
and hopes he will be in Nash-
ville, so he can continue the con-
versation further. They hope all
