turkey to be the new Unit Rep.) Robert Loden, brother of
Albert Loden [C], says A1 is in the hospital. June Cheatum [C]
sent George's daughter a note congratulating her on getting
George cleaned up for the wedding. Bob Grebl has talked to
Meads, Hemme, and Fran Nicholson. Alvena and George
Carpenter [C] are just waiting for Columbus. Norma and Lisa
Bruneau have thanked George for taking care of the 66th all
these years. Bob and Leona Kampling enjoyed Gil and Aurella
Heine's visit. Emil Cardamone has thanked George for taking
care of the 66th. Looks like the only one mad at George is
Lester Porter [AJ. Rita and Ted Gutterud enjoyed the reunion.

Jan. 16 - 52 years ago, was a bad day in the snow and April 14,
1945, was a great day when the British greeted them.
There's more for the next HCN. Think: 1. Reservations; 2.
66th banquet tickets are $20.00 each and must be collected by
each unit and paid to the 12th ADA; 3. SEND ME YOUR
PERSONAL EXPERIENCES IN WWII. I'll have to edit
them but I will send the originals to ACU for posterity.
It's Great To Be A Hellcat. Happy Easter.

Received a letter from a daughter of one of our members. I
had written to Dana Mullens [HQ] with a small reminder about
his dues. This was unusual because in the past, Dana had
always paid promptly, so when I heard that he had not, I
wrote. The daughter, Theresa Cartwright, informed me that
Dana had died on November 28, 1996. There wasn't any more
info than that so I wrote back to Teresa to express our regrets.
If there are others who would like to write, please send cards
and letters to: Mrs. Theresa Cartwright, HC 63, Box 49,
Nettie, WV 26681.
Got a call (3/9) from Jerry Ottaviano [B]. This was a regular

call that Jerry makes from time to time. He gets inspired to
talk with old friends so he calls different ones to get current
info about them. Jerry is doing OK and is looking forward to
the Western Chapter meeting in April at Solvang, CA, and the
82nd in June in Louisville, KY.
Also heard from Wes Gardiner [B] (3/8). He had been out
playing golf and wanted to brag about his score. He seems to
like to do that to me when he has a good day at the links. At 93
he embarrasses me with such things. That's all right because I
tell him I go out there and swing and swing because the doctor
told me to get some exercise so I don't worry about my total.
Except, of course, when there is a guy like Wes, who is old
enough to be my father, and shows off.
Went to the hospital last week (3/5) with a small heart
attack. The medicos think I should have an operation so it has
been scheduled for March 21. This explains the very brief
column this month and problably next month.
Clyde Robinson [C] sent me info about the 82nd Reunion. He
says that if you are flying into Louisville, you need to call the
hotel at 528-2241 to inform them you need transportation to
the hotel. Clyde also says there will be more info at a later date.
For those who will be driving you will receive a map.

As I start this report it is now 22 March and spring has
sprung here in SC. We are sorry to have to miss going to either
the Eastern or N. Central meetings in May, but I have two
doctor appointments at that time and have had them for a long
time. Barb went on 20 March to have pre-op for surgery on her
thumb. The doctor said her lung was still not good enough for
that surgery. So for now we are looking forward to going to the
Smoky Mountain meeting in April. I talked with Ted Blostein
