Leonard P. Dooley (Div Hq) Chairman of our 1954 Reunion Site Selec-
tion Committee, PO Box 33, La Salle, 111, As you will probably get out
another Hellcat News before the Detroit Reunion, I thought you might
wanx to insert a few lines on the 1954 Site. As you know our President,
Wes Gardiner appointed a committee of Gene Blackford,, LeRoy Bensel and
myself to select a site for 1954 Reunion. The picture looks like this
so far: ,
1. Invitations from the Convention Bureaus of New York, New Orleans
and Pittsburgh.
2. Invitations from hotels in Chicago (Edgewater Beach Hotel,)
Boston (Hotel Kenmore), Philadelphia (The Penn Sheraton and the Bellevue
Stratford), and Pittsburgh (Hotel William Penn).
3. We have received offers from two persons to take the chairman-
ship for the 1954 Reunion, Bob Rupert (119) for Pittsburgh and LeRoy
Bensel (119) for Philadelphia.
As you can see we are short on volunteers - just like the Army.
Perhaps someone who will not be able to get to Detroit would like to
place a bid for their hometown. (Letfs hurry up and get in touch with
Dooley if you have any ideas on this, wwh)
Joe Lentz (B 56) S35 S. Kenmore St., South Bend 19, Ind. I have
been writing quite a few notes to people whom I once knew and whom I
have dreams of talking into coming to our annual blow-out. I have been
doing this off and on for a couple of years and so far I have received
acknowledgements from one person. I was pleased to read all the news
about the 56th in the recent issue of the News, especially about Col
Beach and his one man campaign. I am convinced that there are a lot of
these boys whom we could get out if they were only prodded from one or
two directions at once and whom could be convinced that we want to see
them again. See you and the gang in Detroit.
Wesley F. Gardiner ($2) Box 43#> Huntington, N. Y. Well-our 300th
Anniversary of founding of this town i$ over with and I can get back
to thinking about Detroit. Our Exposition incidently was a huge success
with a gate of over 1$,000. I will be leaving here August 1 for a trip
to Canada and will go to Detroit from there. I am getting out a letter
to all members of my Unit about the Reunion.
John J. Collins (714) 216 Burrows St., Apt 1372, Pittsburgh 13, Pa.
