German arm bands; pieces of shrapnel; German belt buckle;
and eagle and swastika from a German supply bag which were a
part of the collection of James Stone, 43rd Unit Rep.
survived and got over it. I mar-
ried a blond, little German girl
and we are still together today.
We have five children, now all
grown and on their own."
I retraced some areas of the
12th, but could not see many
places that I could recognize
being either torn down or built
up. I was forced to retire due to
health and am still waiting for
a settlement and plan to travel
as much as time and money
will permit. In 1982, we travel-
led through Ohio and Canada
and it was a great trip. My
great grandfather came from
the Penn. and Ohio area and it
may be some time before we
can go east again to retrace his
steps. We like the weather here
in Calif., and it is hard for us to
travel to places that are too hot
or cold. I hope to attend the
Long Beach reunion. It is sad to
think that we did not get to-
gether sooner and I think most
of my old buddies are gone now.
N.P.B. - Hq."
NEW ADDRESS. Weldon Gil-
kison - B, 285 4th Ave., Sun
Valley, NV 89433. Tel. 673-1371.
From Sherman E. Kaplitz - 66
MED: "Sorry to have missed
the midwest meeting. S.E.K."
From Howard L. and Betty
Ann Keller - A: 1502 2nd Ave. S.
W., Austin, MN 55912. "I was a
member in '47-'48 when the
paper stopped coming and I
assumed that the organization
was gone. Does anyone have
any information on my old
buddy, "Cahill"? He may have
died of wounds in service.
H.L.K." (Howard is now life
member #89 and should be re-
ceiving a roster from Sec N.B.,
welcome back, Howard.)
NEW ADDRESS. Carl H.
Fones - Hq, 527 Delisa Blvd.,
Milton, FL 32570.
From Walt Malek - C: Hi, my
wife and I attended the Eastern
Chapter at POCONO Inn and
had a great time. Got a letter
from Hoeweller on a special
gathering of POWs. Sounds like
a great idea. N.Y. passed a law
in Sept. '84 to allow POWs spe-
cial plates. Two years ago, I
started this bill and now my
number is "86". You must write
to Special Registration Section,
Dept. of Motor Vechicles, Em-
pire State Plaza, Albany, NY
and request a POW plate appli-
cation. It takes 10 weeks for the
plates and registration to come.
I spoke to Bob Kampling and
Gil Heine in POCONO about
the good old times in the army.
We are planning on the Florida
reunion (20 for O) so buddy, we
will see you there. God Bless,
W.M. (That's a date)
NEW ADDRESS. Warren G.
Navis, 8277 So. High St., Court
Little, CO 80120.
From Howard E. and Char-
lotte Pope - Hq: We are going to
the Orlando reunion, H.E.P. (21
for 0).
From Donald W. Seeborg.
Don urges us all to join the
FRENCH "RHIN & DANUBE"
Assoc. He attended their ban-
quet in Besancon, France which
was A+ and a great welcome
from the French people. Don
invited the French to our '86
reunion in Long Beach and he
said they are coming. He visited
the Italian and French Riverias
and then to Paris for May 8,
1985 V-E Day ceremonies. Don
sent me a Colmar patch and a
post card. This card shows the
French to be much smarter than
the Germans as they fortify
their beaches with nude bath-
ing beauties and nobody gets
by those beaches. D.W.S.
FT. MEYERS Washington,
D.C. 40th V-E Day. The 12th
was invited by the Department
of the Army to attend the ceri-
monies. A1 Lipschultz 152 Sig-
nal called me, and I called some
24 in the D.C. area, and as far
away as 400 miles, (Ed Grant,
George Klise, McCormicks and
Fetty). General Wm. A Hol-
brook 4000 Cathederal Ave.,
N.W. Washington D.C. 20016
was interested but could not
attend due to health setbacks,
I'm sure he would like to hear
from the 12th. In the end we
had 7, 5 from Philadelphia and
2 from D.C. Al, Vince Manci-
nelli A-82, Stanley Sarnocinski
A-714, Frank Czeiner 493, Bill
Okoniewski B-714, Steve Czecha
C-66, and George Turnbull 56.
After some drafts at the Offic-
er's Club (first things first) we
viewed the parade of the U.S.
crack platoons from Army,
Navy, Air Force, Marines and
Coast Guard with bands from
Pershing's Own and the Con-
tinental Drum and Fife, and a
flag for each state. Marching
and music were just perfect.
Def. Sec. Casper Weinberger
was the main speaker. Later we
adjourned to the Orlean House
for prime rib and salad. Many
divisions had colorful represen-
tatives in convention type cos-
tumes, 3rd Inf., 82, 101, 2nd
Armor and 6th AD were among
some.
Faith and I took the grand-
children to the ZOO. Adam
does not like the spiders but
likes the Pandas. Another day
at the Air Show, Katie flew a
KC 135 from Andrews to Dulles
and back. There were hot air
balloons and WW II exhibits.
The big C 5 is really big, big,
big. The finale was the Thun-
derbirds, one group of four sup-
plemented by two solos.
Coming up is 10 days of
Bridge, Washington revisited.
Paula still needs 14 gold for
Life Master. It will take three
first places out of twenty tries.
So gives us that support we
need. Next it is National Tour-
nament in Las Vegas, August
2-12 and then on to Orlando for
the Big One, 12th AD Reunion.
See you there?

WALT DISNEY WORLD VILLAGE
Within a wondrous world of
imagination lies a marvelous
magical village, where the sun
rises each day on a day of en-
chantment.
The world is Walt Disney
World, the place is Walt Disney
World Village.
Here, on a quiet lagoon just
minutes from the Magic Kingdom
and Epcot Center, is a delighfully
unexpected world of Disney
magic. A village of charming
shops, lively entertainment, ele-
gant restaurants, and enchanting
experiences to be found amidst
winding walkways and ever-fra-
grant flowerbeds.
Close your eyes and you can
hear the steady churning of the
Empress Lilly riverboat's paddle-
wheel. Open them and you can
watch skilled artisans shape their
works. The atmosphere, like the
place, is like none to be found
anywhere else.
