newspaper clipping complete
with photo of him that we must
assume appeared in his home-
town newspaper. The article
states that Lonnie Korth retir-
ed July 15 as yard foreman at
Century Lumber Co. in Norfolk,
completing 37 years with the
firm. He was hired on May 15,
1950. At that time the firm was
known as Chicago Lumber Co.
He first worked for the firm
delivering coal and lumber and
also helped unload carloads of
lumber. After serving three
years and four months in the
U. S. Army, he farmed for two
years after his release from the
service. He and his wife Mil-
dred have five daughters Deb-
bie Wichman, Mrs. Kevin (Aud-
rey) Brehmer, Mrs. Jim (Kathy)
Cunningham, Mrs. Kevin
(Lorie) Swoboda and Mrs. Larry
(Kris) Childers and six grand-
children. Korth said he has
"some odds and ends to take
care of at home, such as paint-
ing the house", and then he
may work on a part-time basis
at Century Lumber. His wife is
employed at Our Lady of
Lourdes Hospital.
Associate member Mrs. Karl
(Jeanette) Snyder (Div Hq)
sends dues, adds booster and
writes . .. Look forward to read-
ing the HCN. So good to read
about your many activities and
about friends. I feel a special
closeness to my Karl when I
read about his buddies. Do wish
you all continued success. You
are to be complimented on your
growth over the years.
Julien Saks (Div Hq/CWO)
with dues and a message hop-
ing everyone is fine and sends
best regards to all.
A postcard mailed from
Rome, Italy was received from
George and Eileen Grimshaw
(Div Hq/G-2) conveying greet-
ings to all fellow Hellcats. Prior
to visiting Italy, they visited in
London, Belguim, Austria and
Switzerland. They were blessed
by the Pope. Next destinations
are France, London and return
home. They close with . . .
weather in spring-like and wish
you were all here.
"Jeep" Camarata (66 AIB)
writes from Holiday, Florida
where and wife Betty are win-
tering. He writes . . . We love it
here and it seems like half of
the 12th Armd. Div. are down
here, and that makes it more
enjoyable. Stopped in to see
George and June Moss (714 Tk
Bn) a couple of times and he is
coming along great from his
accident. Then we visited with
Stan and Libby Sarnocinski
(714 Tk Bn). Talked with Ed
and Chickie Buscavage (714 Tk
Bn) and we have a golf date
with Glen Miller (714 Tk Bn). I
even got to yak with Bob Dow-
ney (23 Tk Bn) for a bit. Pat
Marcotulli (17 AIB) will be
down here very shortly. So
there are plenty of 12th people
we can talk to or get together
with.
"Jeep" asks me to call up his
old buddy Joe Zielinski who
was also in the 66th and say
hello. Joe only lives a few
blocks away from me here in
Riverhead. He closes with . . .

message to put this article on

you gents realize that the best
unit in the 12th, the 17th, has
had eight new recruits sign up?
Now for the "sixty-four dollar
question." Have you taken time
to drop a note to: Jim Christo-

We can always count on
Charles Galli, B for news. Note
to Ray Piepenbrink B. Charles
says that one of these days he
is going to show up on your
doorstep - so - look out. Ray
has been one of the buddies
who has had a by-pass surgery
and is doing well.
Another search request for
you all. Galli is looking for a
chaplain Rev. Lloyd Fortin. His
last address was in Robbins-
dale, MN and he was the
Catholic Chaplain for the Inf.
Bns. If you can help us in the
search write to Galli.
Norb Bruemmer got a fine
letter from Oberah Fisher (Mrs.
Earl Fisher C) that I think you
should read. It points out the
strength of the association, and
its importance in the life of all
the members.
"The Twelfth Armored Div-
ision Association gave Earl
much pleasure. Some of his
fondest memories were the
associations he had with the
people in the Twelfth.
I have donated his extensive
collection of WW II books (in-
cluding bound volumes of
"Yank") to the Houston Bap-
tist University Library in Hous-
