NOV. 1960
NO. 3
REPORT FROM 56th
AIB UNIT REP.
To all former hard pants and
foot sloggers let's unite. This
is addressed to all those former
members of the 56th AIB and
present members of the 12th
A.D. Association, both active
and delinquent and to those
who have never become mem-
bers but might receive news
about our group. Charlotte N.C.
was a ball. Grady Rowell and
his assistants put on a real
good show and the Saturday
night menu was terrific. "B"
Co. by far was the outstanding
group. So much for the reunion
now to future business. I
would appreciate all 56th AIB
members dropping me a card
telling me their present occupa-
tion, news of themselves and
their families, and anything
else otf interest. This way we
can let your old buddies know
about you anid if this news is
sent to me instead of the sec-
retary we can forward it under
the 56th AIB unit report and
I am sure it will create a
great deal of interest for all
concerned. Send a photo nou
and then so that we can have
it printed in the Hellcat News
I owe Walter Stanton a letter
but I aim hoping to get toge-
ther with Lou Gangi, Frank
Reilly and Walter for a New
York lunch or dinner. All you
New Yorkers and New Jersey-
ites and Pennsylvanians should
get together with us and we
can have a tri-state luncheon
some evening. Contact me!
Write me! Let's go for 1960-61
and make the Toledo reunion
the tops.

"Sorry we couldn't make the
reunion this year. We have my
parents living with us now. My
father is a Spanish American
War veteran 83 years of age
and my mother is 80 years old.
Maybe we can make it in 1961."

This picture sent to us by John V. Clarke 56th unit rep. is
the proof of the above caption. Just look at those smiling faces.
We are sorry we don't have all the names but the smiling gent
on the left side in front is Vic Challen our new historian.
NEWS FROM
HELLCATS
Charles Herzer (SV/43) 828
Fordham Ave. Riverside N.J.:
"Am writing to let you know
that I have been made Com-
mander of the American Legion
Post 146 of Riverside, N. J. I
have been active in the Legion
for over five years now and I
think that the Legion as a
whole is doing a fine job for
we veterans. I only hope that
many of my buddies have be-
come Legion minded."
SFC Robert M. Gesin (HQ/
17) HQ Btry, US Army Air De-
fense Board, Box 341 Ft. Bliss,
Texas:—"Had a short visit with
SFC Salvador Jaramillo (HQ/
17) and his family at White
Sands Proving Grounds. He is
still with the MP.'s there. I
am sorry I could not make the
reunion. Short on leave time
and too far away. My best to
all the Hellcats." ED. NOTE:—
Dear Bob, would appreciate it
very much if you can find out
why the associ a t i o n hasn't
heard from Jaramillo since
1957. At that time he was a
member of our association.
Ross E. Bell (B/134) Route 2,
Greentop, Mo.: — "The Hellcat
News sure is a nice paper and
it seems as if I would feel lost
without it. I sincerely hope you
all had a .nice time in Char-
lotte. Maybe some day I will
get to attend one. This year
as in the past two years I have
lost my crops because of floods.
It sure has been dry the past
month though. Maybe next
year will be a good one. Lots
of luck to all the Hellcats who
made it possible to hear from
so many."
According to Lynne Schielke
she and Werner (C/56) have
moved to 90 San Juan Ave., Al-
bertson, L.I. N.Y. and for that
reaeson plus, the fact that Wer-
ner is very busy this time of
the year made it impossible to
be in Charlotte. Maybe it will
be easier next year. Lynne also
let us know that Dick Hinojosa
(C/56) and his wife welcomed
the arrival of a new baby girl
last month. Our sincere con-
gratulations and very best
wishes to Dick and his wife.
REPORT FROM
134th ORD.
UNIT REP.
We certainly had a wonder-
ful time in Charlotte. We would
1 ke to take this opportunity
to thank our former Col. Paul
Wood and Maj. LeRoy Jenkins
for the very nice dinner that
they sponsored for the 134 Ord.
fellows. John C. Young of
Greenwood, S.C. came to his
first reunion and we certainly
hope to see him more often in
the future. John is in charge
of the American Legion Junior
Baselball Team that won the
State Championship. Good go-
ing John! I think that this
coming year we will find more
of the single Ifellows wearing
those fancy cowboy boots like
Herfb Pinno. He seemed to catch
all the girl's eyes, even his
wife's. Received a letter from
Herb and Fay telling us that
they arrived home safely. The
134th Ord. Annual Reunion was
held at Mason, Mich, was at-
tended by a nice group of fel-
lows and their families. They
came from Ohio, Indiana and
Illinois. Old Skokie Henderson
attended our little get-together
ff>r the first time and we hope
he had as good a time as we
all did. We would like to wel-
come Ted E. Putman of 1426
Calerick St., Fort Wayne, Ind.
into the association. Ted was
with "A" Co.
Be Seeing you,

—"Regret I could not make
the reunion. The Hellcat News
is read and reread every month,
always searching for the more
familiar names of the fine fel-
lows I knew. Am still comfort-
ably situated in my position
here in a Union Carbide Devel-
opment Laboratory: no detail
report possible. Best wishes to
all association members every-
where."
