The HELLCAT NEWS
REPORT FROM 17
AIB UNIT REP.
I can't seem to find anymore
excuses for not posting a letter
to the H ellcat News, especially
after I got such a fine shot in
the arm from Bill Johnson
whom most of you realize I'm
sure is a real live Unit Rep. I
wish I could say as much for
that guy in the 17th.
By the time this gets in print
we will I believe know who at-
tended this year's reunion in
Charlotte but did you know that
Edward Bealer B Co. was cele-
brating his first wedding an-
niversary. Ed married the for-
mer Beatrice Lee a few days
after the Chicago Reunion. Ed
still works for Timkin Roller
Bearing Co. at the Bucyrus
plant where he now lives. Ed
says and I quote, "Stopped to
see Talmage Fletcher on the
way to Charlotte. He has 7
children and doing fine. He is
not very good at writing but
every one remembering T.D.,
I know he would be glad to
hear from you." I understand
Talmage was a track driver in
the anti-tank platoon in B. Co.
Another cool cat who attend-
ed with his wife Nola was Tom
Eheart and to quote Tom, "Am
attending my second reunion
and making friends with the
old fellows and meeting a few
new ones. We enjoyed our first
reunion very much so we de-
cided not to miss this one.
Am still farming in 111. and
our crops look very good.
We have a boy eleven years
old and hope to see everyone
next year in Ohio."
Thank you for the lovely card
Tom, ugh.
Edward Grant accompanied
by his wife Connie and their
daughter Donna who is twelve
attended their first reunion. Ed
is Manager of "Southgate Ter-
minal Warehouse Co." in Nor-
folk, Na. You cut out too
soon, Ed.
The Hazel Craig's were a
wonderful host and hostess for
our Charlotte reunion. This
very nice couple went out of
their way to insure us a good
time and they certainly did
succeed. The Craig's live in
Charlotte and are the proud
paernts of four children the
youngest being six weeks at
reunion time. The Mummert's
thank the Craig's for a wonder-
ful time and sure hope to meet
again.
Had a fine time reminiscing
with Gene Blackford on Satur-
day night betreen dances and
drinks. I won't go into detail
cause this paper wouldn't print
it anyway.
Renewed m y acquaintance
with Bill Holly of Miami. Mr.
Holly was pleased with his
first reunion and told me he
would try to sell the associa-
tion on a reunion in Miami
sometime in the future. Food
for thought anyway.
We again enjoyed the com-
pany of John and Francis Fin-
ley and their two fine chil-
dren, Johnnie and Jane. John
as you know is our ex-treasurer
and is a Vice President in The
First National Bank in Mid-
land, Pa. Francis was enjoying
old home week for N. C. is
her birth place.
I would be pleased to hear
from any or all of you in the
Association. If you have any
questions, infor m a t i o n or a
gripe, let me hear from you.
See all of you at Toledo.
Sincerely,
Clair O. Mummert

Robert "Bob" Rupert (HQ/
119) Box 529, Kittanning, Pa. —
"Sorry I was unable to attend
the reunion tout due to a rush
of business at our plant this
year it was just impossible to
get away. We have all been fine
and hope to make next years
reunion in Toledo."
John and Jean Brunetta (D/
23) 12 Pleasant St. North Read-
ing, Mass.:—"Had a wonderful
time at the reunion. Each year
it seems to get better. From
Charlotte we toured much of
the South and went as far
as Florida. We visited a nephew
of ours who is a 1st. Lieuten-
ant at Fort Lee, Va. We also
had the opportunity to visit
with Karl Kugel (D/23) and
his family whom we had seen
at the reunion. They have a
motel in Aliquippa, Pa. We real-
ly had a wonderful weekend as
they showed us a real good
time. It was a separate little
reunion all of it's own — the
Kugel's and Brunetta's.
William L. Lafkowitz (HQ/
92) 40 Verona Place, Verona
N. J. "Enclosed you will find
my check to cover my dues for
1960-61. I am enclosing some
pictures of men in (HQ/92).
These shots should bring back
fond memories to some! Sari
and I were on a two weeks va-
cation in Florida at the time
of the reunion and couldn't at-
tend. I hope you all had a suc-
cessful reunion and I am sure
a good time was had by all
who attended. (Wait until next
year) Frank Terrano did a bang
up job, as unit rep. for 59-60.
I hope Ed Brovic's Mother is
back in good health again
Happy to see the big ole "Mail-
man" George Benack back in
print again, glad Frank and he
got together. I wish I could
get to see that "funny man"
soon.
"Page from out of the past"
was very interesting Larry! I
wish Herbert L. Short and his
family best of everything on his
future duties here and abroad.
I guess he'll recall "The Rabbit"
Would like to say hello to all
the guys of the good ole 12th
Armd. Div. Ass'n. (A NOTE TO
.JOHN MURPHY, — 'Bloom-field,
N. J., (B/493) — I have an em-
blem on my plate nearly three
years. In fact that is how I
was instrumental in having the
late Col. Boone contact the
/'ssn's fcr membership, he stop-
ped me on the road when he
spotted the emblem.—
Herbert Modrow (B/66) 1836
S. 51st St. Cicero, 111.:—"Sorry
I couldn't make the reunion
this year tout could not get my
vacation until September. May-
be I will have better luck next
year."

Maurice A. Newman (HQ/82)
US Army Dispensary, Presidio
of San Francisco, Cal.: — "En-
closed is my check for not on-
ly my dues and a little extra
for the kitty but also for the
dues of a new member who
should have been a member all
these years but knew nothing
about the Association because
he left the 12th before we in-
vaded Camp Shanks. The new
member is Col. Willard Anigen
(HQ/82), Sixth US Army Med.
ab., Ft. Baker, Calif. Col. An-
gen (then Major) was the
Commanding Officer of the
82nd at Caimpbell and at Bark-

about the same time G e n.
Brewer left. For the informa-

wondered where he has been
all these years, Col. Angen took
a residency in Pathology after
the war ended and is now cer-

of one who should know he
looks not o.ne day older than
he did at Campbell. I am sorry
that I could not attend the
reunion this year but since I
will retire from active service
before the next one I hope
to toe able to attend most of
them from now on."
