Time for another column so I
will see what I can scare up.
There has been very little corres-
pondence from our active mem-
bers which will make this column
rather short and so leave more
room in the HCN for other Units.
John Critzas, his family and his
Committee did an outstanding job
setting up the Reunion and I
believe everyone had a good time.
The weather also cooperated - not
too hot and only a few showers
which did not disrupt planned
outings. I'll send along with this
report a few of the snaps taken -
more in another issue.
For those who wish to get a
head start making plans (get that
piggy bank out) for the Nashville
Reunion, 1983, here are the dates:
July 7, 8, 9, 10, 1983.
During the Saturday night ban-
quest I finally found me an
Alternate Unit Rep., Marvel Row-
land (B Co) and hope to have him
helping out this year.
For all of John McMahon's
buddies, he and Liz had to cancel
their Reunion plans as he was
admitted to the hospital suddenly.
Here is a letter I received
from Liz. "Sorry it has taken me
so long to answer your letter and
to thank everyone in the 56th for
the get-well card for John. We
were both very sorry we had to
miss the reunion. John was espe-
cially sorry to have missed seeing
VanDerhoef, Forsyth, Kramer
and Luber. Rosemary and Tony
Frohlick called us last weekend
and told us what a good time you
all had. John is well on the road to
full recovery and God willing we
will be at the reunion next year.
"Love, Liz"
I had a bried note from George
S. Markel (C Co). "This past
month (July) I renewed friend-
ships with two C Co/56th soldiers
that I hadn't seen since the fox-
holes in Germany. I found them
hale and hearty and full of a lot of
laughs and memories. I had a
wonderful visit with both of them
and certainly intend seeing them
again. My check for $15 is enclos-
ed, please add them to the
roster."
Our new members are: Cecil
MATHIS, C Co - Rte 3 - Dover,
TN 37058 and Glenn LATIMER, C
Co - 2203 Mills Drive - Dexter,
N.M.
Through the good efforts of
Warren Maue (17th AIB) we have
another new member: Floyd A.
PECK (C Co) - 1519 S. 80th St. -
W. Allis, WI 53214. On the
reunion sign-in sheet for 56th I
noticed Peck's name but was
unable to contact him for a visit.
Peck, when you read this HCN, I
hope you will drop me a line and
give us a little information about
yourself.
From Ken Warnes' desk I
received this letter: "Sir, To
whom it may concern, I was at the
Ex-POW convention in Colorado
Springs where I met somebody
who was in the 12th A.D. and he
told me about your Organization.
I was in the 12th A.D., 56th AIB,
A Co. I was captured in Alsace
and was in Stalag 11B and 7B in
case somebody was in these
places. I would like to hear from
them. I Would also like to become
a member. Respectfully yours,
Hyman SIEGEL - 504 Grand St.,
Apt. A-53 - NYC 10002."
I was very sorry to learn that
we have lost our excellent Exec.
Sec., Ken Warnes. Take particu-
lar notice, especially you fellows
who have not sent in your DUES
for this year, that our new Exec.
Sec. is now Norbert Bruemmer -
1913 Jerome Dr. - Godfrey,
Illinois 62035.
Files and records are already on
the way to Bruemmer but it will
take a little time to figure out who
has paid and what members are
now delinquent. Check your can-

Here we are again back from a
wonderful 36th at St. Louis. The
66th had 49 entries at the regis-
ter, (more than one per line item).
See HCN for lists of attending by
unit. George and Mary Klise were
both sick and had to postpone
their trip. George called George
Carpenter a week before and also
called while we were in St. L. and
talked to several of us. It looks
like George and Mary are recov-
ering OK. Speedy recovery to
them. John Nemeth also called,
rough times kept John away.
Let's hope the economy is better
next year for all of us. Also
expected but not showing were
Herman Christianson ana Charles
celled checks - have YOU sent in
YOUR DUES; if not, YOU are
now delinquent and will shortly
receive no more HCN.
WRITE - I need material for
this column.
Beattie. All attending are paid up,
you may or may not have your
dues card. Believe it or not as
close as we were there I did not
get to talk in detail to everyone, I
have cards for J.E. Davis, Clyde
Myhre and Carl Zutz. Edward and
Elonore Edmonds were there
with granddaughter Sarah. June
Cheatum was there with grandson
Reed and his parents. Floyd,
deceased, was our unit rep for a
long time and made all the
reunions.
Faith and I drove and first
thing back home I located the
restaurant list for St. L. John
Critzas Chm., had an excellent
program. Athough the open air
double decker bus was sold out
you could take a chance that some
one would not show and take their
seat. There was the Golf outing,
ladies lunch, Goldenrod Showboat,
Anheuser-Busch tour, buffet and
Dixieland Jazz. At the Saturday
Business Meeting the 12th AD
Flag was introduced. This original
was borrowed from the Museum
at Fort Campbell. This museum
does not have many items now,
and is small. To help it grow a
huge Nazi flag, maybe 60 by 40
feet (somebody's trophy), was
donated to this museum. If you
have some momentoes you are
about to discard, give them to the
historian or museum. Gil Heine
was elected to 1st Vice President
and the champaign flowed. Con-
gratulations to Gil (C66). St. Louis
has a huge Arch which you can
ride up in on Disney land people
movers. This Gateway Arch is 630
feet up, the statue of Liberty is
