The Waman's Society of Christ-
ian Service met in the Educational
Building Monday, March 21 with
17 members present: for the third
lesion of ttye Bible Study .being
given by (Mra- Hattie Bishop. Mrs.
S, B. Evans was the leader of the
program and she opened the pro-
gram- with the hymn, "More Love
to Thee."
Mrs. b. W. Rowton offered pray-
er and Mrs. Walter Sullens gave
a part from the Supplementary
book to the study. Her subjects
—Were, "Luke, the Musician, and
-•'Luke the Physiciah." Her Scrip-
ture reading-was Col. 4:1.41
Mrs. Bishop' gave two chapters
' from Luke's Portrait of- Christ
'Fhey were, "Christ and the King-
dom '/and "The Gtwspel of Love".
Mrs. George Luttrell mentioned
several jfi rabies in which Jesus'
love for outcasts was shown. Her
subject was. 'Jesus' Love for Out-
casts." Rlrs. J. R. "Dawson told of
Jesus'
told that he did much to raise'the
Status of Women 'Mrs Henry
Dickson read the xninutes of the-
preceding meeting, and she pre-
sented a baby Life Membership
certificate to Mrs. J. H Perkins
for her grandson. Joseph Lawrence
Smith. Mrs Perkins ordered this
certificate to present to har
grandson—as she has dojie for all
of her, other- grandchildren. The
Society voted to buy 12 chairs for
Fellowship Hall.
Rev, Sullens spoke for about
rive minutes on circulars that the
commission on Membership and
Evangelism is distributing to all
the membership of the different
departments/of the church. In
handing out the circulars Brother
Sullens said, "We are fishing to
determine your interests". AJ1 pre-
sent filled in the answers to the
questions. The meeting was dis-
missed with a prayer by Mrs. Bis-
hop. The Bible Study being given
by Mi-s, Bishop 'Will end next Mon-
day. It has created much interest
by the members who have been
able to be present. "

The Friendship Class of, the
First Christian Church met at the
"Annex on Monday night for a bu-
siness irtid social meeting.., Mrs.
H, C. McConnell presided., Thp
opening, song "There is Sunshine
in My Soul", was sung by " the
group followed with a devotion by
Mrs. T\ A. Johnson and concluded
with a* prayer. Miss Margaret
Compton read the minutes of the
m eeting iind-gave the treasur-
ep report.
Discussions and plans were
made by the class on their pro-
ject. The business meeting was
closed with a prayer by Mrs. Mc-

Citizen of the Week, Donald is 5
feet 6 inchs tall and weighs 115

orite hobbies are playing base-

, Track officially started in,the
Honey Grove Elementary school,
Monday, March 21st, This was also
the first day of spring. The y&rm
spring weather is here, arid some
of us are anxious to be out in the
sun, and on the ground.
A boxing program also got off
to a good start this week. The box-
ing will be supervised each after-
noon in the gymnasium. Several
few.,of the basic aims being taught
boys were interested in boxing. A
are; physical fitness; self-control;
co-ordination; self-defense; .and
sportsmanship. I

• The American, Legion Auxiliary
•met in the Educational Building of
the First Baptist Church. Tuesday
evening, March 15 with the follow-
ing hostesses: Mmes. B. B. Gre-
gory, Nina Meade and Estelle
Simmons. Several arrangements of
lovely spring flowers' wert> found
throughout the spaciolis room. Mrs.
W. O. Cravens, president, presided
and opened the meeting according
to ritual. The Secretary, Mrs.
Evelyn Carley, read the minutes of
the previous meeting and also gave
the Tresurer's report in the ab-
sence of the Treasurer, Mrs. W. B.
Rie\qes. Mrs. George Turner offer-
ed prayer. Plans were, made for the
quarterly Bingo party that the
local unit puts on in the VA Dom-
iciliary in Bonham. This party will
be held the first Tuesday evening
in April and home made cake and
coffee will be served to all the in-
mates of the hospital
. In order' to bolster the funds in
the lagging account of the treasur-
er, the members will give a penny
per pound of their weight at the
next monthly meeting.- Several of
us on the heavy side are going on
a strict diet. A donation in the
amount of $5.00 will be given to
the locaFRed Cross drive which the
Unit is sponsoring. Mrs. Harry
Thompson gave a report of the
money in the Birthday Fund and
Mrs. F-. W. Ware reported the nu-
mber | of cards that she had sent
to Shut-ins and bereaved members.
At the close of the business session
Mrs. A.. T Fuller presented a
program on Rehabilitation with
Mr®. -George -Luttrell — and Mrs.
Henry Dickson also having parts.
Refreshment plates t Of delicious,
home made, date-orange cake top-
ped with whipped cream, and cof-
fee were - pasefed byi the hostesses
to all present. The social hour came1
to a close with the members sing-
ing "God WW Take -Care of You"
with Mrs. 'Gregory plrty.ing the
piano accompaniment.
Aliens Point HD Club
Mrs. Jack Holmes gave a short
demonstration on canning and do-
ing the most work in the shortest
time at the home of Mrs. Tom
Lochridge March 15. She also Cal-
led roll and the members answered
with, "Some food I like to freeze".
Mrs. Ray Wylie gave the council
report. £
The' motion Was made and car-
ried that we addpt a retarded child
from the Texas State Home for
retarded children to send gifts
and cards for this year. She' said
there were many diildijen there
who never received any mail from
the Outside world.
Mrs. Wylie also directed a
catchy little game that caught us
all not thinking.
At the close of the meeting Mrs.
Lochridge served refreshments of
cake and punch. ; > /
