The divorce suit brought by
Marie Shively against Vernon
Shlvely was dismissed on the
motion of the plaintiff, as was
the foreclosure suit brought
Charlies and Darlyne F. E. Wal-
den by W. A. Gehring over lot
22, block 35, Russell addition.
Judgment finally was entered
in a lengthy suit brought by C.
L. Hudgens, Mary E. Bomar,
John Brewer and others against
Schleicher county concerning
three labors of the land in league
283.
The court found that the three
mentioned above, through their
predecessors in title, had mis-
takenly thought they had re-
ceived 177.12 acres, while Hud-
gens got only 76.9 In labor 21,
Bomar got 78.7 in labor 22 and
Brewer got 82.3 in labor 24.
The court also found that the
three had overpaid the amounts
of $488.75, $511.68 and $112.06 In
interest, but that collection of
the sum Is barred because of the
statute of limitations.
The case was filed June 25.
1949, and has been the cause of
extensive litigation.
Meat Judgers
Goes to State
The Seminole Future Farmer
meat judging team qualified for
the state contest this weekend
at College Station in the region-
al contest at Lubbock Saturday.
The team, composed of Joe
Carson, Jimmy Brooks, Charlie
Hargrove and Robert Jones, will
leave for College Station Friday
where the contest will be held.
They will be accompanied by C.
J. Murphrey, vocational agricul-
ture instructor.
Carson was first in wholesale
and retail cut identification, mak-
ing a perfect score. Items includ-
ed were cuts of beef, pork and
lamb.
The team as a whole placed
fourth in the regional meet. In
the state meet last year the team
placed fifth.
Other teams in the Lubbock
compettion included poultry,
dairy and livestock. These did
not qualify for the state meet,
but Ronnie Briggs placed third
in poultry judging out of 160
contestants.

A favorable response for
widening the Lubbock • Odessa
highway to four lanes within
the next few years, and Indica-
tion that the highway would be
widened from Lubbock to Brown-
field this year was given a road
delegation in Austin Monday.
H. C. Kyle, C of C managej
and C. V. Singleton, Seminole
rector for the Lubbock-to-Ode
highway association, represented
Seminole. Thirty - four others
were present, including five from
Seagraves and the entire cAh-
missloners' Courts from An-
drews, Ector, Terry and Lubbock
counties, except for one Lubbock
commissioner. v
The highway associations
formed here last month to pro-
mote the widening of the high-
way.
The delegation agreed that the
Brownfield-Lubbock stretch was
in most urgent need of widening.
Highway department officials
said the traffic count of the en-
tire highway was high enough
to justify widening to four
lanes.
