Project To Be Complete In 30 Days
Remodeling Begins At Post Office
Albany postal customers are
likely to be surprised on their
next visit to the local post office
for according to Postmaster John
Rose, a lot of changes for the bet
ter are taking place
The office is undergoing a
30 day remodeling plan which will
provide more convenient service
and 120 additional post office
h
boxes.
When the project is complete,
the office will have two separate
portions one for customer ser
vice on the east side, and a post
office box lobby for getting mail
on the west side.
Rose indicated that the boxes
rurrently on the east side of the
lobby would be moved to the west
side and that all the boxes will be
adjusted so that the numbers will
run in consecutive order.
The box lobby will be U shaped
when completed, with boxes on
either side allowing room for the
new boxes. The newer boxes will
have key locks rather than com
bination locks and Rose noted
that customers wanting to have
one of the key type boxes can
place their name on a list at the of
fice.
The postmaster stated that
there are currently 80 names on a
waiting list for a box and that the
remodeling will ease the need for
boxes.
"There may be one night dur
ing the construction that we have
to lock the post office after hours
in order to protect the boxes."
said Rose.
