... AND SHACKELFORD COUNTY....
, . /
i
Shackelford County is situated about one hun=
dred and thirty miles west oi Fort Worth. Her principal industry is
Stock Raising and Stock Farming. Her fine grass lands, plenty of run=
ning streams of pure water and the fertility of her soil, which is adapted
to the cultivation of Milo Maize, Kaffir Corn, Sorgum, Millet and the
finest Wheat and Oat Lands in the world; combing all of these advan*
tages this makes it an ideal stock farming country. ....
Some of the Finest Ranches to be found in the
State of Texas are located in ShackelfordXounty.
It is a revelation to any one who visits this country to see the large herds
of thoroughbred cattle that are raised in this county. There is no better
fruit country to be found anywhere than Shackelford County. Peaches,
Pears, Apricots, Plum, Cherries, Blackberries, in fact all the fruits that
are grown elsewhere in the Lone Star State can be successfully grown
here. Ours is the open door policy. We swing the gates back upon their
hinges, and extend to the industrious homeseeker, to labor and capital
and to brawn and muscle a hearty welcome. . • •

Is located on the Texas Central Railroad. Albany is not so large in point
of population as some other sister towns, but what she lacks in numbers
she makes up in qualities. One thing that the city boasts of is her system
of fine schools. The Reynolds Presbyterian Academy is one of the
best schools in the State. They have a magnificent building, which cost
twenty thousand dollars. We also have a fine system of graded public
schools. Her citizenship is composed of broadminded and liberal
spirited men.
