Runners compete at district
Twenty-one Albany runners
coinpeted in the district cross coun-
try meet held Monday, October 24
in Eula, with five junior high ath-
letes earning medals and high
school competitors placing well in
the tough 11-school district.
Seventh grader Dakota Fowler
crossed the line first in her 1.8-
raile division, with Kasey Presley
not far behind in ninth place. Jer-
emy Corbin was third in the sev-
enth grade boys category, which
is over a 2-mile course.
Among the eighth graders,
Heidi Perkins received a third
place medal, while Lindsey
Presley was ninth.
The top 10 runners in each di-
vision were given medals, accord-
ing to Coach Ginger Norton, and
all the medalists at the high school
level advance to the regional meet.
The junior high runners do not
advance.
"I really thought we might have
a couple of people advance, but
this is a tough district, and we just
didn't place quite high enough,"
commented Coach Norton.
'The kids worked hard all year,
and I want to thank both them
and their parents, who supported
the team throughout the season,"
she continued. 'This is a young
group, with no seniors, and I'm
looking forward to working with
them again next year."

trict meet are as follows:
