transcript, eligible ACT/SAT scores, the
Academic Scholarship Application, and a
HSU Application for Financial Aid by May
1, 1994. Class rank and High School GPA
are also considered for eligibility.
Hardin-Simmons University also honors
full-time entering freshmen who graduated
valedictorian or salutatorian of their
high school graduating class with the following
one year tuition-only scholarships:
Valedictorian ........ $ 500 per semester.
One year only.
Salutatorian .......... $ 250 per semester.
One year only.
Transfer Scholarship
This HSU tuition only scholarship is
awarded to new students with 24 + transfer
hours with a 3.5 cumulative GPA. Renewal
requires a 3.5 cumulative GPA.
Full time enrollment is required for all
academic scholarships.
Departmental scholarships are available
from some academic majors.
CHURCH-RELATED SCHOLARSHIPS
AND GRANTS
Ministerial Grant
Undergraduate ministerial students may
qualify for the Ministerial Grant by applying
through the Director of In-Service Training
in the Logsdon School of Theology. Recipients
must complete MNST 3341 and THEO
3321 priorto graduation. The grant consists
of $40 per semester hour for tuition only.
Denominational Workers' Dependents
Grant
Wives and dependent children of fulltime,
called professional church staff, including
active full-time missionaries employed
by the Home and Foreign Mission Boards
of the Southern Baptist Convention will receive
upon application a Denominational
Workers' Dependent Grant. This tuition-only
grant consists of $35 per semester hour.
Baptist Leadership Grant
The Baptist Leadership Grant consists
of two levels of tuition-only scholarship
awards. To qualify for Level I, for $2,000per semester, a student must be an Acteen
National Panelist, recipient of the National
Missions Challenge Award, First Place Winner
Baptist Youth Speakers Tournament, or
President of Congreso (Texas Baptist Hispanic
Youth Congress). To qualify for Level
II, for $1,500 per semester, a student must
be a Second to Fifth Place Winner Baptist
Youth Speakers Tournament or a Vice President
of Congresso. Full-time enrollment (12
hours per semester) and a cumulative HSU
grade point average of 2.5 (assessed at
the end of each spring semester) are required
for continuation.
Church Match Scholarship
Scholarships awarded by Southern Baptist
Churches to individual students attending
HSU are matched dollar for dollar with
a tuition-only Church Match Grant. Church
scholarships should be routed through the
HSU Development Office to take advantage
of this matching grant. Contact the
Financial Aid Office for an application for
the church scholarship.
Acteens Scholarship
Tuition only scholarship for various levels
of achievement.
Mission Challenge Scholarship
Tuition only scholarship for various levels
of mission challenge achievement.
Foreign Missionary Dependent Grant
MK's living on campus are awarded
this tuition only grant of $500 per semester.
2.5 GPA required for renewal.

Administration Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 1987
by Dr. Loyce Adams, instructor in the
Hardin-Simmons University Department of
Business from 1937-1942.
Bill and Dick Alexander Endowed
Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 1933
in memory of Charles P. Miller, Grace
Miller Norman and Elsie Miller Gilkerson
by the Bill and Dick Alexander Foundation.
