HAZING.-Hazing in all forms is strictly forbidden by the University.
Any class that interferes, in any way, with the functions
of any other class shall thereby forfeit its own right to similar
class functions.
DAY STUDENTS.-Students attending the University and residing
at home are expected to conform to the general rules of the institution.
The active cooperation of parents and guardians in
the home is necessary in this matter.
BOARDING STUDENTS.--All boarding and rooming places for
both men and women must be approved by the University. Ordinarily
students will not be permitted to maintain "bachelor quarters"
or to reside at any place not supervised by a hostess. Students
are not permitted to change their rooming places without
the assent of the Dean of Students.
GRoss MISCONDUCT.-It is the definite practice of HardinSimmons
University to remove without debate all students who
are guilty of gross violations of good conduct; such as, profanity,
drunkenness, gaming, thieving and insubordination to authority.
TOBACCO.-The use of tobacco is discouraged in every way,
and students are strongly urged to refrain from smoking on or
about the campus.
CHURCH ATTENDANCE.-All students are not only expected to
attend Sunday School and Church services on Sunday morning
but are required to do so, unless some excuse, acceptable to the
Dean of Students, is rendered. Students who do not expect to
conform to this requirement are requested not to present themselves
for matriculation in the University. Students not members
of a Baptist Church will be permitted to attend the church of their
own choice, provided parents or guardians file a request with the
Dean or President to this effect.
DEMERITS.-Demerits are given for misconduct and for unauthorized
absences. Upon receipt of fifteen demerits the student
will be called for a conference with the Discipline Committee;
upon receipt of thirty demerits, the committee will advise the
students' parents of his derelictions; and upon the receipt of fifty
demerits, the student will be subject to suspension by the faculty.
ABSENCES
Absences from class are of two kinds; authorized and unauthorized.
Absences of members of athletic, debating and oratorical
teams, musical organizations, representing the University,
preachers at church appointments, and absences due to illness are
authorized.30
