ALBERT D. POPE
Albert D. Pope, a former Moran
high school boy, joined the Navy in
August, 1942, and landed at Pearl
Harbor in November of the same
year. He has been. on submarine
duty.
VICTORY
Dec. 9, 1941—Japanese occupy
northern Gilbert islands.
PVT. FLOYD LEE HAGAR
Pvt. Floyd Lee Hagar, son of
Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Hagar of Moran,
served as a typist and clerk in the
ground force of a replacement pool
in France. He received slight
wounds while on duty Jan. 31,1940,
just a month after he left the
states, but has recovered.

Mrs. Willie Rountree has two
sons in the service. Cpl. L. C.
Rountree entered the service in
May 1941. He spent 22 months in
Canada and Alaska, and was with
the First Army. He was with the
Combat Engineers when they
crossed the famous bridge over the
Rhine. He is still in Germany,
which was the latest report.

RAY McKELVAIN
Ray McKelvain, youngest son of
Mrs. J. H. McKelvain of Route i,
is a graduate of the Moran nigh
school and attended McMurry col-
lege two years. He was employed
by the Coca Cola company in Abi-
lene before inducted into the serv-
ice. He received his basic training
at Great Lakes Naval Training
school and was then assigned to
duty in the personnel division at
the Naval Air Base in Corpus
Christi, where he was still on duty
when the last report was received
by-this nev.spaper.

• J. R. McKelvain, CM 3/c, USN.,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Kay McKel-
vain, spent 18 months overseas and
served in England, France and the
Bermuda Islands. He was return-
ed to th6 States in May after he
had suffered shrapnel wounds
while on duty in Europe. He was
hospitaljzed in Joliet, HI., after his
return to the States. After a fur-
lough home he returned to duty at
Camp Park, Calif. His wife, the
former Juanita Meadows, and lit-
tle son make their home with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Mead-
ows.
