sor a three-day invitation basket-
ball tournament on Feb. 20,21,22,
Twelve team* will be entered and
appropriate trophic* awarded to
the champions, the runner a-up, the
consolation bracket winner* and the
team exhibiting the be*t sportsman-
ship. Individual award* of gold
basketball* will be given the all-
tourriament selections,
Stipt. J. W, Hamilton will go to
Atlantic City, N J , to attend the
National Convention of School Ad-
ministrator* March 2-6 The school
board of trustee* recently voted
to *end him and pay his expenses
on the trip A group of school *u-
perintendents, county superintend-
ents and the deputy *tatc superin-
tendent from this area will leave
Wichita Falls on Feb 27 A special
pullman has been arranged for.
The group will spend a day in
Washington, D C., and make a tour
of the nation's capital arid visit the
legislative assemblies before go-
ing on to Atlantic City. They will
start back on March 0 and arrive in
Wichita Falls on the 8th.
The new RCA movie projector
bought for the elementary school
by the P.-T A., arrived last week.
The first of a series of educational
pictures was shown Monday to the
student body. Thi» machine is
the very latest type of visual edu-
cation equipment. The P.-T A is
to be commended for thl* worthy
project.
A Negro Minstrel will be given
by Seymour High Girls' Chorus,
assisted by the Senior Scouts a*
Eridmen and Tirey Samsill as In-
tertocutor. it will be on Feb 17
at the City Hall.
John T Brown of Vera called
at this office Friday to have The
Banner *erit to his daughter Mrs,
Charles Schroeder of Upper Dar-
by, Pa., which i* a suburb of
Philadelphia Mr Schroeder is
working there iri a factory that
is owned by his grandfather. It
will be remembered that the
Schroeder* married only last sum-
mer, after the bride had been
with the telephone office here for
S years. While she was in thi*
office her husband-to-be came to
Wichita Falls for a stay at Shep-
pard Field, and he wa* over here
one night placing a telephone call
when he met Miss Jone*. It ap-
peared to be a case of love at
first *ight. Mr*. Schroeder report*
that she is enjoying her stay so
far in Penn*lyvania. and when she-
wrote the last time they had not
experienced any weather yet that
was down to a* low a* zero, M'.

for a number of years, and John-
ny wa* born here. Edwin Is a

Stavlnoha, has lived with her hus-
band in Mary'* Creek community
almost since the time of her mar-
riage.
The Indirect cause of Johnny'*
death wa* a lick he got on hi*
neck from a thrown base ball.
The place at last developed a can-
ccrious growth.
The Wichita Fall* paper carried
a fitting tribute to thi* fine boy,
and the following paragraphs arc
taken from the account;
Johnnie was a student in Zun-
delowltz Junior High School when
he became ill. He was one of
the Kchool'* outstanding students
scholastically and iri sports, In
KM 4 he lettered on the Zundy
football squad, and In 1045 he was
the squad captain He was pres-
ident of the Zuridy Hi-Y Club
in 1045, and shortly after he was
confined to hi* home was made
an honorary member of Junior
Optornlst* Club,
During football season one of
the Zundy games was dedicated
to him, and on the same day he
wa* showered with remembrance*
from hi* school friends. He was
a draduate of Crock* tt school also."
W. W Parker, grain farmer who
lives just north of Westover, was
in Saturday to renew his paper
Walter said he was still doing all
right, but he was getting tired of
the dry, dusty northers, and would
appreciate another showes*.

quite a boner last week in des-
cribing some of the contributions
In the polio drive, stating that the
Fir*t Christian Church donated
$100, That church did make a
very nice contribution, but the

One trouble about the business
is that there was no excuse for
the error, as the Information was
turned in to us correctly. Per-
haps the incident shows that mis-
takes still occur In newspapers.
The only thing we hope now is
that readers of The Banner will not
finally get into the habit of think-
ing that everything in the paper
