Goings On
At The Crazy
Mary Vanlandinqham
The worst winter storm of
the season hit Tuesday night
Dec. 5. Wednesday, Thursday
and Friday were real cold. We
had a low Saturday morning
of 17, and would you belifve
that the official winter is still
2 weeks away.
Welcome back to two hotel
residents who came home
from Palo Pinto General
Hospital, Tuesday, Dec. 5.
They are Mrs. Lillie Custer
and Floyd Wright. We still
have a resident in the
h ospital, Mrs . Merle
Richardson who lives in 411.
We hope she will soon be well
also. Hobart Young is still in
Campbeil Memorial Hospital
in Weatherford, the last time
Mrs. Young was here she .
told me in the elevator that
he is not doing very well.
Wednesday night word was
received that Mr. Young
passed away in the
Weatherford hospital. Baum
Funeral Home of this city
was in charge of the funeral
arrangements. He is survived
by his wife Edna of the Crazy
Hotel, two daughters, a sister
and two brothers and six
grandchildren. He was a
retired post master of Brazos,
a member of the Brazos
United Methodist Church. He
was 80 years of age. He and
his wife Edna have
been residents here on 5th
floor for about two years,
and had many friends here
who extend their symapthy
to his wife and all his loved
ones in their time of sorrow.
The Christmas decorations
in the lobby and the coffee
shop are prettier than any
Christmas that I've been here
and I've been here
seven Christmases. Come by
and see them there's a
beautiful tree in the coffee
shop and a large tree in the
lobby. A super menu is
planned for us on Dec. 25.
Mrs. Irene Worden has
returned to the hotel after
spending about a month in
California with her family.
I'm glad she beat the real bad
weater in getting back here.
Mrs. Jean Seller's sister Mrs.
S.A. Agee of Fort Worth and
their niece Mrs. Laura
Unsworth of Minnesota came
Saturday noon. They took
Jean out to shop for some
items she needed then
returned to Fort Worth
Saturday afternoon.
Mrs. Bertha Smith spent
Monday, Tuesday, and
Wednesday of last week in
Fort Worth where she was
under the care of a physician.
We hope she is doing better
soon.
Mrs. Drucilla Norvell left
about ten days ago to be gone
the entire month of
December. She will be
spending the holidays with
family members in Slaton and
Lubbock.
I enjoyed a nice visit with
Deborah Pruitt Saturday
afternon when she came and
brought me some needed
items from the grocery and
stayed for a visit. It's always
good to have her.
All the sports fans here
were pleased again Sunday
afternoon when Dallas
Cowboys defeated the
Philadelphia Eagles 31 -13,
making the Cowboys eleventh
victory for the season.
Welcome back to John
Sartain who moved in last
Friday. He was a former
resident several years ago, and
is a native of Mineral Wells.
Thanks to a large group of
youth and pastor Rev. B.C.
Dugger of the First United
Methodist Church who sang
Christmas carols on each
floor of the hotel Sunday
night. We all enjoyed it and
appreciated their
thoughtfulness.
Visitors of Mr. and Mrs.
Emmett Maddox the past
week include their grand&pn
Kenny Price of Perrin also
their granddaughter Rhonda
Price and Melissa. Their
daugher and husband Mr. and
Mrs. Curtis Price of Perrin
and Kidd Caudill of Whitt
and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ebner
from Possum Kingdom Lake.
They enjoyed all their
visitors.
The hotel can now serve
Title VII meals to 75 eligible
senior citizens per day
Monday through Friday. Jean
Owens met last week with the
officials and was given this
information. They have been
prior to November only
serving 70 participants, so call
her for reservations if you live
in Palo Pinto County.
The Christmas party for
hotel residents will be next
week, the date will be
announced later.
Jean Owens (activity
director) has started exercises
again. They are Monday,
Wednesday and Friday at 10
a.m. Anyone is invited to
take these exercises.
Recent visitors of Mr. and
Mrs. Roy Hittson were their
granddaughters Mrs. Mariana
Stockstill and little daughter
Kristi and Mrs. Donna French
and son Clinton of
Weatherford, also Mrs.
Hittson's nephew Edgar
Meredith of Ft. Worth and
Hittson's niece, Mrs. Mildred
Million and grandson Tommy
of Strawn. Mr. and Mrs.
Minor Hittson of Palo Pinto
visited the Hittons on Friday.
Miss Dolores Jones visited
with her grandparents Mr.
and Mrs. Roy Hittson
Tuesday. Miss Jones lives in
Fort Worth. They enjoyed
having all these guests.
Mrs. Edna Young is back at
her apartment on fifth floor.
Her daughter stayed with her
Sunday night and was still
with her Monday.
Sunday dinner guests of
Mrs. Leta Klum included her
daughter Mrs. Effie Gilbert
and Oletha Parks, Ann
Cohagen and Maggie Haney.
John Lauderdale of the city
moved in as a new resident on
fifth floor, welcome.
Mrs. Alice Cross went to
Palo Pinto where she visited
her daughter, Mrs. Bell and a
number of her friends
including Mrs. Vi Keegan,
Beulah McDonald and others
I can't remember. But she
said she really enjoyed seeing
so many old friends. Mrs.
Cross is from the Palo Pinto
area. We are glad to have nice
people like Mrs. Cross move
to the Crazy Water Hotel.
Of course your kid's radio-
controlled space gun is just
make-believe, but would you
mind letting us hold the
batteries — just until it's
time for us to go home?
Predestination means
that your spouse already
knows where you're going
for dinner tonight.
