Nearly one hundred were In attendance
at the annual Firemens
and Business Mens banquet which
was held in tho dining rooms of
the Presbyterian church last
Thursday night April 28
Good fellowship reigned suprome
throughout the program which
consisted or talks and both vocal
and instrumental music Tho Hod

music at intervals throughout tho
evening and Mr Skinner and his

gave the welcome address In a
few well chosen remarks that convinced
tiie citizens that ho can
rise to occasions of tills sort when
necessity requires it and that ho
can ably represent Tulia on any
occasion
District Attorney Meade P
Griffin gvae the principal talk of
the ovenlng and spoko many kind
and complimentary remarks as to
tho loyalty of our volunteer flro
boys and the Wholehearted cooperation
of Tullas business men
and citizenship all of which ho
declared was necessary to tho progress
of a community and drew
comparisons between our community
and some others of which he
was familiar
As a result of the eloctlon Hugh
White is tho new fire chinf and
John Rice was renamed fire mar

Ono of tho facts brought out
at the meeting was that tho hoys
aro ever on tho alert to servo
tho home owners in caso of flro
and In this they aro many times
hampered by thoughtless people
who got in their way by parking
cars too near the scone of action
thus delaying hose connections and
consequent loss of property
This banquet was by far the
largest ever held at a similar occasion
In Tulla and shows that
every citizen is in sympathy with
the boys and want to show their
appreciation in any way possible
