Weekly Sermon
v A Duciple Or An Apostle Which
After two years ot teaching by word and miracle the religion
that Christ had come to earth to reveal to man he took his disciples
aside one day and told them that from then on they were to go forth
and carry this message to others He warned them that this would
not be easy that they would meet with resistance and opposition
but this should not daunt or deter them they must carry on This
was a new experience to the disciples From that day forward instead
of being merely disciples learners of his word they were to
become doers of his word They were to interpret in terms of humnn
living the message of Christs gospel They were to bring Christ to
others Thence forth they were to be apostles instead of disciples
yteachers instead of merely learners If they had failed no other way
was provided to bring this philosophy of living to mankind I have
often thought of this incident in connection with the church and the
religious experience of many today They arc admirable disciples
They attend church regularly and are diligent students of Gods1
word but go no further They stop there They never make their
religion a vital usable tiling They remain disciples always never
becoming apostles to carry to others the message they have learned
of Christ

State 4H Girls
Accomplish Large
Jobs In Many Fields
Enough fruit trees and berry
vines to make a row from Browns
ville to Dalhart and halfway
back wore planted by Texas 4H
club girls during the past year
says Onah Jacks state girls club
agent for the A and M College
Extension Service in checking
on the girls progress in club
work
During the same period she
comments nearly 2000 mattresses
were added to 4H club girls
homes through their work interest
and influence Half of this
number was actually made by
the club girls from home grown
cotton
At least 4000 more girls are
enrolled In 4H club work this
year than were last year the
agent points out She adds
Texas 4H club girls have had
more regular meetings than
ever Also the number of county
camps tours to see good demonstrations
rallies exhibits and
othre public meetings where they
shared information have increased
this year
Miss Jacks says 4H club girls
increased interest in country life
n > e remaining in club work
longer now and by the increasing
enrollment during the past two
years despite the fact that contests
and competitive work have
been discontinued
The tact is now she points
out every girl who does 4H
dub work does it for the natural
benefit that it bringsnot because
she hopes for a prixe or an extra
honor

But the general farmer Is prone to
neglect his flock to keep birds of

the expenses of such flocks are low
the returns arc even lower However
with a little planning and attention
nearly all of these farm flocks can bo

Electrical Incubation Offers
Many Benefits to Poultrymen
More and huskier chicks usually are produced by electric hatching
cr to put his flock on a paying basis
Ono of electricitys many uses in
which there lias been a marked Increase
during tho past few years on
general farms as well as among commercial
hatcheries and poultrymen is
In incubators For several reasons
electrical Incubation Is ideal It docs
not spoil the air in producing heat
hatching efficiency usually Is higher
than with other systems It is clean
safe economical labor saving and
depending upon the tlxe of the unit
permits some or all of the following
factors to be automatically controlled
temperature ventilation humidity
lights and turning
Electric incubators can be purchased
with capacities ranging from
06 to 20000 or more eggs and for as
little as 13300 delivered thus meet
ing the requirements of all classes of
poultry raisers Current consumption
depends upon tho type and construc
tion of tho incubator as well as on the
temperature of tho room in which it is
kopt Generally It varies from about
200 kwhr per 1000 eggs botched
for uniU holding 150 cegs or less to
approximately 20 kwhr for thoso I
having capacities of 20000
eggs At
tho thrcocent rate this rIvoi n hatch
ing coat of from 0100 to 010 of a
cent per egg tho lower cost being
for tho larger Incubators becauso of
their generally superior construction
and insulation
