Committee Reviews
Cost Sharing Requests
The Shackelford County
ASC Committee is carefully
reviewing producers' requests
for cost sharing under the
Emergency Conservation
Measures Program (ECM) for
practices to rehabilitate farm
land because of the recent
flood. The demand for these
practices under ECM has, un-
fortunately, exceeded the
funds available to the office at
this time, according to Johnny
Heatly, director of the ASCS.
"When funds become avail-
able, the committee will con-
tact producers to see if they
have completed the practice
or are still interested in carry:
ing out the practice," said
Heatly.
Even though ASCS is con-
ducting the damage assess-
ments and accepting producer
requests, this is not a guaran-
tee that requests will be
approved even if hinds be-
come available, he said in
Abilene taking the consolation
and Carter King Jr. in second
place.
"We had a lot of compliments
on the condition of the course,"
commented Wayne Hogan, co-
chairman of the event along with
Buford Salters. "We appreciate
the work done by Ross Balliew,
Tommy Baker and everyone else
who pitched in to help get the
course in shape for the tourna-
ment."
Hogan and Salters extended
special thanks to Linda Heatly
and Kathy Baker for operating
the concession stand during the
three days of the tournament,
and also to the people that
donated food for the stand.
