Shackelford County
Eligible For FHA Loans
Congressman Omar Burleson
advised this week that Shackel-
ford, Haskell and Young Counties
have been approved for emer-
gency loans by the Farmers
Home Administration (FHA).
This action was taken because
of severe storms and flooding
beginning about August 1 which
resulted in the area being de-
clared a major disaster by the
president.
Loan applications may be re-
ceived through February 5, 1979
for physical losses and August 5.
1979 for production losses from
eligible farmers in the area.

Senior Citizens' Bus. . .
This new 1978 12-passenger Dodge bus is available Monday through Friday for any senior
citizen who needs transportation. The bus was furnished by the West Texas Council ot
Governments and Shackelford County. Mrs. Patsy Todd is in charge of Shackelford County
Services for the Aged and can be reached at the Chamber of Commerce office, number

Homecoming Queen nominees
were selected by classes at
Albany High School last week,
with Carrie Prince chosen by the
seniors, Margaret Peacock by
the juniors, Tracie Edgar by the
sophomores and Vickie Hargis by
the freshmen. Escorts are Ronnie
Kitchens, Mike Halbert, Troy
Prince, and Shad Hash.
Also selected were Mr. and
Miss AHS Nominees, including
Donna Sazama and Ronnie Har-
gis - seniors; Jill Holson and
Gary Gossett - juniors; Lisa
Henry and Steve Wilbanks -
sophomores; and Shelly Hudman
and Joe Allen Jones - freshmen.
Jill Holson was elected as Lion
mascot.

Investment Seminar
Slated September 20
The public is reminded of the
free three-part seminar entitled
"Intelligent Investing in> the
1970's" to be sponsored by the
Albany Chamber of Commerce.
The seminar will be held each
Wednesday for three weeks be-
ginning September 20.
Reservations may be made for
the seminar by calling the Cham-
ber office at 762-2625.
Food, Linens Available
At Legion Hall
Canned goods and linens are
currently being issued to flood
victims at the American Legion
Hall in Albany. The buildings is
open from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. each
Tuesday and Friday.
Anyone who is unable to be at
the Hall at those times is asked
to call Betty Law at the Chamber
of Commerce office. She will try
to make other arrangements.
