Students Work On Holiday Projects

"This is also a project of
the third grade. The first
graders are making or
naments to hold coins; the
ornaments are going onto
a 'money tree' that they
are making for a friend.
"Collecting fruits is the
project of the second
gradt," he continued.
"The fruits are packed in
small containers for in
dividuals."
Much enthusiasm is be
ing shown in the fourth
and fifth grade rooms
where they are collecting
toys and games for Abi
lene State School
students, Williams said.
"Mrs. Frankie Douglas, an
employee at State School
who commutes daily, will
deliver the presents and
report to the classes on
how the things were
received."
In the sixth, seventh
and eighth grades, the
students are collecting,
stacks of canned foods
and preparing boxes and-
baskets for, needy families
in Albany. "They are all
excited and happy over
the way they are getting
ready for Christmas,"
Williams said. "To cap it
all, the Lions Club has of
fered to distribute the
gifts to the homes."

out in regard to the high
school students' program
at 1:45 Thursday in the
auditorium But everyone
is invited, so go on over.-
Mrs. ' Wilson and Mrs.
Waller know what's going
on, but they aren't talk
ing. Just you be there!
School's dismissed at 2:30
that da>. all but the poor
teachers w ho are to have
a work day on Friday. The
faculty plans a luncheon
in the Homemaking room
at noon that day.
National Honor Society
met at the home of Alan
Jones Tuesday night,
Everyone brought re
freshments, exchanged
gifts and sang carols.
Classes will resume
Wednesday, January,2, at
8:15 a.m.
Several teachers re
ported plans for the
holidays. The L B. Gib
son's will have James and
Rebecca Gibson of Beau
mont and Roger, Kay, Jill
arid Karen of Houston at
the parents' home at
Christmas. Also in on the
fun will be Mrs- W. L.
Brown and Mrs. and Mrs.
Dent Gibson, all of
Merkel.
J°rry Estep will be
coming home from his
new job at Tandy, Fort
Worth; Gary will be in
from Texas Tech where
he is a student. The
grandparents will come in
too the elder Esteps
from Trent and the
Williams' from Brown
w ood.
Terry Harlow is more
than happy now that his
family arrived on Decern
ber 1, but he said they wHI
have the Blair family from
Duncanville, an aunt from
Wichita Falls, brother
from Denton and two
sons, Jim Tom and
Michael Tee.
The Carl Wilsons will
go to Graham and Olney
w here they w ill visit with
her parents, Mr-, and Mrs.
Elmer Mayo and sister,
Mrs Butch Willis and Mr.
Willis
