Beaty were present for the pro-
gram.
A former mayor, John Mc-
Gaughey, told of the work of the
city council, past and present,
and reported the present council
had this month paid off the final
bond owed by the city, and "Al-
bany is probably the only city in
the state free of bonded indebt-
edness." Report was made that
the City of Albany continues to
make improvement, which in-
clude paving of city streets with
city-owned equipment. Mayor
Mayield reported that 95 percent
of Albany's streets are paved.
Rev. Gary Whitbeck read a
resolution recognizing the work
of the city council members.
The resolution appears else-
where in this issue.
J. Carter King, Jr., also a for-
mer mayor, stated that the City
of Albany has continued improve-
ments, and paid off all bonds,
"without a cent from the federal
government."
Report was made that plans
are being completed for the an-
nual banquet this Friday even-
ing at the school lunch room, and
no Chamber of Commerce noon
luncheon will be held Friday.
Ticket sales were reported by
Liston Todd, chairman of sales.
Further report was made that no
reception for the speaker, Atty.
Gen. John Hill, will be held as
Mr. Hill will arrive here just in
time for the banquet Friday ev-
ening.
The chamber voted to rent the
banquet tables, jointly owned by
the school and chamber, for an
antique show in the hotel during
the Fandangle;
The chamber further agreed to
join the Fandangle in paying $50
to' the West Texas Chamber of
Commerce for postage, as the
regional chamber is sending out
500 City of Albany and 500 Fan-
dangle brochures to its mailing
list.
Lawrence Winkler gave a re-
port on the junior livestock show
that was held Saturday, stating
that the boys and girls had some
