Halbardier- Simms
unset chosen
or weddin
At sunset on Oct. 1,2011,
Courtney Ann Halbardier
and Matthew Patrick Simms
were united in marriage at a
breath-taking outdoor cere-
mony at Water's Edge
Ranch on Lake Ray Roberts,
Tioga.
One hundred yards of
ivory crystal organza cov-
ered the wedding pergola
with purple wisteria vines
and a small red bird resting
in the top in memory of
Courtney's grandfather, Otis
Tettleton. Each corner of the
pergola was adorned with
cascading white lilacs and
purple peonies. Lining the
aisle were purple hydrangeas
and ribbons on shepherd's
hooks. Guests were seated in
white wooden chairs tied
with purple organza sashes
and jeweled tie backs.
"Hallelujah" by the
Canadian Tenor's was play-
ing as the bride's mother,
Christie Halbardier, groom's
parents, Dale and Linda
Morton, and Courtney's
grandmother, Joan Tettleton,
were seated.
As the sun was setting the
groom and his best man,
Shawn Scotton, followed by
groomsmen, Kevin
Rodriguez and Stephen
McHattie, began the wed-
ding procession as "So Are
You to Me" played. The
groom and his party were
handsomely dressed in black
tuxedos. Courtney's maid of
honor, Alyssa Creager, led
bridesmaids, Evan Cuellar
and Mandi Morrison down
the aisle in knee length dark
purple satin dresses.
Corey Halbardier, the
bride's brother, escorted her
down the aisle to the string
quartet version of "The Long
Day is Over". She was
assisted down the steps by
her uncles Chris Tettleton
and Steve Tettleton.
Justice of the Peace,
David Allen, led the couple
as they recited their vows to
each other. Upon being pro-
nounced husband and wife,
Matt & Courtney shocked
the crowd by choosing
"White Wedding" by Billy
Idol as the exit song for the
wedding party.
The bride's Maggie
Sottero wedding gown was
custom made of Bordeaux
Taffeta featuring a beaded,
strapless, sweetheart neck-
line over a cascading bustle
asymmetrically draped on a
lace skirt. Handmade flow-
ers were nestled within the
bustles of the skirt and the
back was an elegant satin
ribbon laced corset. Staying
true to Courtney's unique
style, she chose an eccentric
blend of Cinderella and
Wizard of Oz for her wed-
ding shoes, four-inch clear
acrylic heels with a simple
brilliant red sequin and
beaded strap over the toe.
As a baby Courtney was
attached to a blue silk night-
gown. When she started
school she would cut small
pieces from the gown and

Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Simms
Funeral services for
George were held at 11 a.m.
Tuesday, Oct. 18, at Nocona
Cooke Street Church of
Christ. Minister Mike
Bentley officiated stressing
Psalms 116:15 - "Precious In
the sight of God is the death
of His saints" and the memo-
ry of a wonderful Christian
man. He was assisted by
Minister Austin Wright who
lead the congregational
singing of "How Great Thou
Art" and "Precious
Memories" and offered the
closing prayer; by grandson
Brady Bell who lovingly
delivered "Great Memories
of Says Spent With Papa-
George Paskel Larison" dur-
ing which was stressed
Papa's Christ-Like behavior
described in Galatians 5:22-
26; and by great-grand-
daughter Kaylee Messer who
sang the very touching song
"Daddy's Hands".
Interment was in Nocona
Cemetery under the direction
of the caring and capable
attendants at Scott-Morris
Funeral Home. Brother
Bentley presented to the
family a folded U.S. Flag as
an expression of our coun-

for George's military serv-
ice.

A. Fenoglio, Mayor Robert
H. Fenoglio, Danny Howard,

place in her pencil box tak-
ing "silky" to school. For
"something old" & "some-
thing blue" Courtney's
grandmother, Joan Tettleton,
used this tattered childhood
memory to make her bridal
garter.
Immediately following
the ceremony the reception
was held on the stunning
Water's Edge second
floor. A beautiful cathedral
window and glassed in
reception area was the per-
fect setting for the couple's
first dance.
Guest tables were ele-
gantly draped with cham-
pagne crinkled taffeta table-
cloths and chair covers.
Long crystal chains dripped
from the candle lit branches
and large rhinestones and
more jeweled votives topped
the tables.
The groom's culinary tal-
ents were featured on the
food table. Guests were
served a buffet of braised
short rib & gruyere filled
pastries, bleu cheese &
onion stuffed mushrooms,
grilled Asian pork tender-
loins, spinach & artichoke
filled pastries and many
other delicious appetiz-
ers. Dan Fenoglio worked
his magic in assisting Matt
with food and garnishing the
buffet table.
The three-tiered wedding
cake was a Paula Deen carrot
cake with cream cheese
icing. Each layer was
trimmed in rhinestone rib-
bon with white roses
between the pillars and
topped with a silver rhine-
stone S. A large round
German chocolate groom's
cake was topped with choco-
late dipped tuxedo strawber-
ries. Both cakes were made
by the bride's mother.
A white baby grand piano
was the setting for a memory
table. Photos of the bride and
groom's loved ones who
have passed were hanging
from a large branch with
crystals and candles lit in
their memory.
Hank Howard provided
the music as the couple
danced the night away with
close family and friends
until the wee hours of the
morning.
For their honeymoon, the
happy couple spent a week
in Barbados.
Matt and Courtney reside
in Lewisville where she is an
assistant loan officer at
Credit Union of Texas, and
