Thomas was a business
owner and operator of a restau-
rant supply company in
Carrollton. He was an active
member of the Nocona Hills
community, the Community
Church and an avid golfer.
He was born April 26, 1942,
in Eagle River, Wis., the son of
Weldon Burkle and Marjhorie
Alt Burle. He married the for-
mer Nationette Gabourie. He
died June 18 in Nocona.
Survivors iunclude: his wife,
Tonie Burkle of Nocona; chil-
dren Tammie Burkle of Nocona,
Wendy Burkle of Dallas and
Troy Burkle of Carollton.
Pallbearers wer Paul West, Bill
Dryg, Jack Am on, T.L. Payton,
Reno Barsi and Ray Williams.
The family wishes memorials be

of Wichita Falls, Texas, passed
away Saturday, June 16, 2007,
at Hospice of Wichita Falls.
Graveside services were held
at 1: p.m., June 18, 2007, at the
Nocona Cemetery in Nocona
with Reverend Rod Messer offi-
ciating. Interment will followed
under the direction of Jerry
Woods Funeral Home in
Nocona.
June was born April 9, 1935,
in Nocona where she grew up
and graduated from Nocona
High School in 1953. She
married Billy James Carpenter
August 23, 1952, in Wichita
Falls. They lived for many years
in Wichita Falls and the Dean
community and were married
for 49-1/2 years before Bill

spending time with her friends
and family and was a loving
wife, Mother and Grandmother.
Survivors include son Jimmy
Carpenter and wife Dawn of
Nocona, son Brian Carpenter of
Wichita Falls; granddaughters
Jamie and Cheryl Carpenter of
Nocona; also, many nieces,
nephews, extended family and
friends.

Clyde Shaw
BOWIE —Clyde Bailey
Shaw, 89, passed away June 16,
2007, in Bowie.
Funeral Services were held at
11 a.m. Tuesday in the Drawing
Room of the White Family
Funeral Home with Reverends
Greg Shaw and Jim Arrington
officiating.
Burial will followed at
Salona Cemetery.

Clyde was born Feb. 2, 1918,
in Clyde to Herman and
Virginia Jewel (Thompson)
Shaw. He married Lucille Luna
on Sept. 28, 1935, who preceded
him in death on July 12, 1997.
On May 1, 2000, he married
Elsie Downie.
He was a past owner of Shaw
Construction where he would
remodel houses. He loved his
ministry where he could be
heard on the radio program
"Words of Hope" every Sunday
morning. He enjoyed playing
the guitar and singing.
His hobby was writing
"isms" for which he made into a
collection of proverbs for his
family. He enjoyed spending
time with his grandchildren,
especially trips to the zoo.
Nothing was more important to
him than his family.
He is preceded in death by
his first wife, Lucille Shaw and
son, Tex Shaw in October of
1996.
He is survived by his wife,
Elsie Shaw of Bowie; daughter,
Clydena "Dena" Bryant and
husband, James of McKinney;
son, Clete Shaw and wife Diane
of Alvord; eight grandchildren;
twelve great-grandchildren;
brother, Vernon "L.V," Shaw
and wife Gwen of Bowie; sis

Dale Scott retired June 2
after 46 years in the ministry.
He served the Nocona Church of
Christ for the last 11 years from
June 1996 to June 2007.
Dale began his ministry in
Bellevue and has served church-
es in Albany, Seymour,
Comanche, Wichita Falls and
Nocona.
Some of the many things he
has been involved in over the
years include; the Prison
Ministry at the James V. Allred
unit, holding worship services,
teaching classes weekly for a
number of years; President of
the Nocona Loons Club, the
trash pick up along West U.S.
Highway 82, the Lions Club
Golf Tournament, downtown
Fun Day, cleanup and repair of
the Enid Justin City Park, Santa
Claus at the annual Christmas
Parade and the Lions Club bas-
ketball tournament for the junior
varsity teams; and he was one of
the volunteers for the fourth of
July Fireworks at Lake Nocona;
Chaplain for the Fire
Department many times going
to a fire or wreck in the middle
of the night, he was always there
when needed.
He volunteered for the Fire
Department Flame-Out
Basketball Tournament and the
Buckle-Up for Lane's Sake
Volleyball Tournament;
announced the Nocona Indian
football games for several years;
served as the local liaison with
FEMA allocating funds for the
county and also served in the
Board for the Cross Timbers
Drug Council. He held monthly
devotionals at both nursing
homes and Cherry St. Village
and served as a marriage coun-
selor.
Dale and Jane attended Cisco
Christian Camp for nearly as
many years as he was in the
ministry.
They were very supportive of
LTC trying to attend as many
times as possible to encourage
the kids from church
Dale made three trips to the
Ukraine to do mission work and
to preach at worship services.
Together they made a trip to
Ecuador to do mission work
with Louis and Dottie McBride
in Cuenca, Ecuador. They
served as director sand house
parents for the Stephenville
Children's Home and were
instrumental in organizing the
39'ers Retirement Group at the
church and made several trips
with the 39'ers.
Jane taught first and second
grade for several years at
Nocona Elementary and many
mothers requested her to teach
their children.
Jane taught Bible classes and
worked hours organizing the
teachers' workroom at the
church. She also spent many
Saturdays going to garage sales
to purchase crystal serving
pieces, platters, plates and
condiment bowls to be used for
weddings and baby showers
held in the church annex. And
she always served as one of the
hostesses for a wedding or baby
shower at the church.
The Scotts have three chil-
dren, Tim and wife Kim Scott of
Nocona; Kim and husband
Daylon West of Bay City; and
Joel and Joy Scott of Jacksboro;
and 13 grandchildren.
Dale's mother, Eva Dell
Scott, also resides in Nocona at
Nocona Nursing Home.
We as a church family com-
munity and friends will truly
miss Dale and Jane as our
church minister, but we're look-
ing forward to worshipping with
them whenever they are able to
be with us at worship.
The church is hosting a
reception for the Scotts on
Sunday, June 24th, from 2-3:30
p.m. in the Church of Christ
Annex.
We invite you to come honor
the Scotts in their retirement.
