MONTAGUE
Montague County's
Subdivision Rules &
Regulations are going to be
updated.
Last Monday the court
approved a recommendation
by Pet. 4 Comm. Tommie
Sappington that a five mem-
ber committee be formed
with the responsibility of
drafting a revision.
The commissioner noted
the court expanded the mini-
mum lot/tract size from 1.5-
acres to 2 acres last March.
"We knew what we
meant," Sappington said of
the Rules, and the recent
amendment, "but there some
areas of confusion."
He pointed out the way
the Rules & Regs are written
it could be interpreted that
even if the property was
going receive its water serv-
ices from "a common well or
water supply" the lots would
still have to be at least two
acres in size. Nor are there
provisions for pre-existing
lots smaller than 2 acres in
size.
He proposed he, Pet. 1
Comm. Jon Kernek - who
helped write the Rules &
Regulations when they were
first adopted in 2003
Valorie Stout, the secretary
to the county judge, Eddie
Fenoglio, the county's sewer
inspector, ad Dr. Bob
Patterson, executive director
of the Upper trinity
Groundwater Conservation
District, be the members of
the committee. The proposal
passed unanimously.
Among the items to be
discussed are grandfathering
existing lot sizes and a sys-
tem o allow variances.
