MONTAGUE - The
county commissioner's court
approved the proposed 2010
budget for the Montague
County Tax Appraisal
District Monday.
The court also approved a
request from Grace Place to
add it to the list of agencies
that jurors can donate their
jury duty fee checks to.
Grace Place provides
emergency food and shelter
for residents of Montague
County, including operating
a four unit apartment in
Nocona, said founder James
Weaver. Begun in 2002,
Grace Place received its IRS
501-c(3) designation in
2006.
Typically those needing
temporary shelter stay from
2 weeks to two months while
they secure jobs and raise
enough money to find a
place of their own to live,
Weaver told the court.
The court revisited a
request from Ross Hamilton
to run a residential sewer
line down a county road. Pet.
3 Comm. Steve Howard said
original thoughts that the
road was inside the city lim-
its of Bowie were incorrect.

The Texas Department of
State Health Services will
hold two Immunization
Clinics in Montague County
during the July.
The first will be held on
Thursday, July 2, from 9:30-
11:30 a.m. and 1-4 p.m. at
the River of Life Church,
710 W. Wise St., in Bowie.
The second will be held
on Tuesday, July 21 at from
9:30-11:30 a.m. and 1-4 p.m.
at the Nocona Community
Center, 805 W. U.S. Hwy.
82, in Nocona.
Bring the patient's shot
records. A parent must be
present. And a sliding fee
scale will be applied.
For more information
contact the TDSHS offices in
Gainesville at 940-665-6397.
The road was in the county,
and Hamilton needed the
court's permission to lay the
line.
The court approved the
request, charging no fee,
since the line, once complet-
ed, will become property of
the city of Bowie.
Sheriff Paul Cunningham
received permission to trade
an MP5 machine gun to the
Bowie Police Department
for an AR17 rifle. He noted
his deputies had more need
for a rifle, which could be
carried in their patrol car,
than a machine gun that is
stored in the department's
weapons locker.
Commissioners also
approved a change in how
the Road District 2-3 Rock
Crusher pays for its rock.
Previously, when three
precincts participated in the
joint venture, each sent an
employee to crush, load and
weigh rock. But now that
just two precincts are
involved - Precincts 2 and
23 are buying Precinct's 1
interest in the crusher —
rather than weighing each
load, the two precincts
would simply split the rock
royalty.
"It won't be much differ-
ence," Pet. 2 Comm. Jerry
Clement told the court. The
proposal passed unanimous-
iy.
