Well, business lias been pick-
ing up in the old home town dur-
ing the past few days. The
trustee election last Saturday
drew a large vote and tilings
were lively around town. Then
on Tuesday of this week the city
election was the liyliest political
campaign ever staged in Semi-
nole, so the old timers say. At
any rate it is encouraging to
know that a city has enouuh life
about it lo have a lively scrap
once in a while. 1 know a lot of
towns i hat are too dead to raise
a «.ood titfht. Now that the two
elections are over it would be a
good idea for the fellows around
here to smile, shake hands and
line up for a building program
for Seminole.
My idea of a good sport is a
fellow who, when he disagrees
with you on an issue, will fight
you a good clean tight to the
finish, and then when defeated
takes his defeat with a smile. I
have been licked lots of times but
I have tried never to hold a
grudge against the fellow who
administered the licking.
nole business men, "'Consider the
hen and be wise." Frankly speak-
ing I can't imagine a business
institution in this modern age
that does not do a lot of adver-
tising. Two thing about adver-
tising: A business concern just
can't build a successful bus ness
without advertising. In the
second pi are a community can't
build a progressive city without
a good newspaper, and you can't
haye a good newspaper without
the patronage of the business
men of the town.
Mrs C. E. Rollins hat been
busy lately raising money for a
new windmill, water tank and
other improvements for the cem-j
etery grounds. This is a civic
^tter that every citizen of the
county should be interested in.
The silent city of the dead is one
city tiiat keeps right on growing
regardless of hard times and de-
pressions. We owe it to our de-
parted to see that these sacred
places are kept in order Mrs.
Rollins should have the hearty
cooperation of the entire com-
munity in the effort to beautitiy
the cemetery.
