considered it a
rich privilege to experience many

the growth and establishment
of modern churches schools homes
and businesses
Two daughters surviving are Mrs
Robert Devin Amarillo Texas and
Mrs Dewey Seay Tulla Texas

Representative H G Wells and Senator
Andy Rogers with an appreciation
banquet Monday night at
Kress school cafeteria
H M Baggarly editor of the Tu
lla Herald was the speaker of the
evening With a summation of the
legislative accomplishments of those
men Especially significant Were flic
works that involved the teacher pay
raise and transportation allotments
Among other things Baggarly read
a letter from Ly Pi Sturgeon of the
Texas State Teachers Association
Ho said i have just learned that
Senator Andy Rogers Is to be honored
at a banquet in your area
early next week Senator Rogers has
been such an outstanding champion
fur legislation that would Improve
our schools that I felt led to outlinq
briefly for yousome of his services
in this area
It has been my privilege to work
with Senator Rogers very closely on
educational bills during thepast four
Regular Sessions of tho Legislature
During this period the Teacher Re
tirement System has been completely
remodled and placed on a sound
actuarial basis the Foundation Program
has been materially strengthened
salaries of teachers have been
substantially increased and allotments
for operation of schools and
for transportation of children have
teeri raised In each of these four
sessions Senator Rogers has sponsored
or cosponsored each of the
bills and his voting record Indicates
that he supported every constructive
educational measure which
came before the Senate
