Organization and Support
The Regular Session. The regular session is administered by the officers of
the University and consists of two semesters of sixteen weeks each. Work in
twenty-nine departments leads to the seven degrees offered by the University.
The spring commencement concludes this session.
The Summer Session. The Summer session is administered by the officers of
the University and consists of two terms of five and one-half weeks each. A
student may earn up to seven hours each term. Regular faculty members teach in
the summer session, and regular college courses are offered in all schools. The
summer commencement concludes this session.
Financial Support. The expenses of the University are met only in part by
student fees. The balance is derived by income from the endowment fund, an
annual grant from the Baptist General Convention of Texas and current gifts.
Friends desiring to make donations, conveyances or bequests to the University
are advised that the legal name is Howard Payne University, and the institution
is chartered under the laws of the state of Texas. Gifts to the University are
tax deductible.20
