Academic Information
studies are offered throughout the academic year. Interested individuals and
groups are invited to contact the Director of Continuing Education.
Course Numbering System
Courses are numbered using four digits. The explanation is as follows:
The first digit indicates level:
1 -Freshman
2 - Sophomore
3-Junior
4-Senior
The second number indicates semester hour credit:
1-1 hour credit
2-2 hours credit
3-3 hours credit, etc.
The third number is to denote courses within a department:
The fourth number is used to indicate the type of course:
0-4 - Lecture
5-Elementary education
6- Secondary education
7-8-Workshop, Institute or workshop
9 - Laboratory course
Degree Plan Required
A degree plan must be completed and filed by each student by the beginning of
the second semester of the junior year. The degree plan must be typed and submitted
to the office of the Vice-President for Academic Affairs with the signatures
of the student, the department chairman and the dean of the school in
which the student is studying. After the approval and signature of the VicePresident
for Academic Affairs, copies are filed with the Registrar, the VicePresident
for Academic Affairs, the dean of the school, the department
chairman and the student.
After submission and approval of the degree plan, the student may amend the
degree plan by submission of an amended degree plan approved by the department
chairman and the dean of the school involved. The degree plan may be
filed anytime during the first semester of the junior year. Degree plan forms are
available in the office of the Director of Admissions and Records and the office
of the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
Dropping a Course
If it becomes necessary for a student to drop a course during a semester, he
should make arrangements through the Admissions and Records Office to drop.67
