COURSES IN DETAIL
BIBLICAL LITERATURE
This Department offers courses in the literary masterpieces,
the historical facts, the great characters, the ethical
and religious teachings of the Bible, with the purposes of
giving the student that appreciative knowledge of the Bible,
which is a necessary part of a liberal education.
The field of comparative religion, Christian doctrines, and
Christian missions, will be studied, which courses are arranged
to qualify the student for church work and other activities
of the community.
101. The Hexateuch and Judges. This course of study takes
up the beginnings of the Hebrew nation, studying the
Patriarchs, the Egyptian Bondage, the Settlement in
Canaan, and the preparation for the Monarchy. Major.
102. The Hebrew Scriptures. A general course in the institutions,
national, and religious life of the Hebrews, observing
the chronology and historical background of the Old
Testament, the divided kingdom, the Fall and Restoration,
and how these enhanced the Doctrines of Hebrew
Theology. Major.
104. Life of Christ. A careful study of the four gospels will
be given. The childhood, manhood, works, miracles and
teachings of Jesus will be thoroughly studied and much
emphasis will be given to the study of His Supernatural
Personality. ' Major.
105. Life and Letters of Paul. This course covers the history
of the times in which Paul lived, observing the progress
of the church as a missionary body, and Paul's part
in making Christianity the universal religion. Major.
