TEACHERS' CERTIFICATES
Howard Payne College is recognized by the Texas State
Department of Education as a "first class institution." Students
who frame their courses of study in accordance with
the Texas certificate laws secure certificates to teach in the
public schools of Texas. Howard Payne College is also on
the approved list in several other states.
Four Year Elementary Certificates authorizing the holders
to teach in the first seven grades are issued upon completion
of two majors devoted especially to elementary education,
two majors of English and five other majors accepted
for the A. B. Degree, not more than three of which may
be in one department.
Two Year High School Certificates authorizing the holders
to teach in any grades of the public schools except the
high school grades of first and second class high schools are
issued upon completion of two majors of education, two
majors of English and five other majors, not more than three
of which may be in one department. Any majors in education
may be counted on this certificate.
Six Year Elementary Certificates authorizing the holders
to teach in the first seven grades of the public schools are56
