Perryton 7 to 6
The Canadian Wildcats beat
the Perryton Rangers by a score
of 7 to 6 In a hardfought game
before one of the largest crowds
Jn local football history at Hoov
er field here last Friday night
It was the first conference
game for the Wildcats and they
did themselves proud
Tonight they will go to Pan-
handle and a large number of
local fans are expected to make
the trip to see the game

County Census
Figures Show
The number of farms In Hemp
hill county as shown by the pre-
liminary count of returns of the
1945 census of agriculture was
390 as compared with 349 in
1910 and 401 in 1935 This was
announced today by Weldon L
Boylcs supervisor for the 1945
farm census In the first Texas
census district with headquar-
ters at Panhandle
The total land in farms In the
county according to the prelim-
inary count was 553422 acres
as compared with 529786 acres
In 1910 and 531526 acres In 1935
Average size of farms shown for
the county was 1419 acres as
compared with 1518 acres in
1940 and 1326 acres in 1935

Guests at Canteen
Here Friday Nite
The Perryton football boys and
the members of the Perryton
high school band were guests of
the Wildcats and Pep Squad at
the TeenCanteen following the
game last Friday night
The building was beautifully
decorated In the colors of the
two schools red and white and
black and gold
The snack bar served hot dogs
sandwiches homemade cake
doughnuts fruit punch and lcc
cold pop
The following football moth-
ers were In charge Nix Webb
and Elklns assisted by Bycrs

Mrs W A Roberts
Returns After
Hollywood Visit
Mrs W A Roberts returned
last week after a twomonth va-
cation spent In Hollywood where
she visited relatives While there
a family reunion was held and
for the first time in seven jears
the family was all together
Mrs Roberts reports a wonder-
ful time while the guest of her
movie star cousin Miss Linda
Darnell at the home of Lindas
parents Mr and Mrs Roy Dar
nell She attended broadcasts
and met lots of the stars
Mrs Roberts also attended the
wedding of her son Sgt Has
kell Marshall a paratrooper
who was married September 29
to Miss Mary Jane Jordan of
Amarillo

MAYO BROTHERS CLINIC
Mr and Mrs Jim Smith left
Saturday morning for Rochester
Minn to take their 9yearold
daughter Kay to the Mayo Bro3
clinic there
Little Kay Is believed to be
suffering from latent poisons of
dlptherla and has been to sev
eral hospitals for treatment
Mrs Clarence NIx received a
letter from her brother Boots
Gerhart Monday In San Fran-
cisco He sent her a small snap-
shot and she says he looks fine
He expects to be In Canadian in
a few weeks He says he ones
his life to the Red Cross

In Canadian this week visiting
friends and transacting business
Mr Records received his dis-
charge from the service last Fri-
day They will leave soon for
Grand Junction Colo where Mr
Records will be employed by the
Independent lumber company of
that city

ter only 7 hours and 10 minutes
